“What did you say?!”

Nolan’s voice suddenly shot up an octave, and the lively atmosphere came to an abrupt halt.

His assistant handed him the recording of the live stream. Take a look, sir.”

On the screen, Josette gave a bitter smile. Visible all over her body were horrific wounds.

Right after that, she pulled a bottle of sleeping pills out of her bag and held it up directly to the camera.

All the comments in the live stream were egging her on.

[If you’ve got guts, just do it. A nutcase like you only hurts everyone including yourself if you stay alive!]

(She’s just faking pity to get us to feel bad for her. Who buys this crap?]

[Stop dragging your feet out. If you’re gonna die, just hurry up!]

But no one expected that Josette poured the pills into her palm and swallowed them one by one.

It wasn’t until she collapsed to the ground, her face deathly pale, that the comment section completely spiraled into

panic.

[She can’t actually be doing this for real, right? How did this happen?]

[Someone call the cops right now!]

Seeing this, Nolan’s pupils instantly shrank.

“Where is she right now?”

“We can’t track her location right now, sir,’ the assistant replied. “But someone already called the police. We just have to

wait and see.

“Walt what? Get people out there looking for her now!” Nolan roared completely out of control.

I’ll go right away.”

Andy, who had been watching from the side, burst into tears.

“How could Mom actually do this? I don’t want Mom to die. No…”

“Shhh, don’t cry.” Nolan whispered gently, trying to soothe him, but his own hands were shaking harder than anything

The next second, a commotion broke out in the room. Everyone stared at their screens in shock, sucking in sharp

breaths

“This movie was actually filmed like this?”

“The award-winning version was edited! The original cut is this brutal?!”

‘Guys look at this video! The lead actress swallowed pills and killed herself!”

Glancing at the footage on their phones, Nolan’s eyes went wide.

The entire screen was filled with scenes of Josette being tor//tured, the methods unspeakably vicious.

“What the hell is this?! I told them to hold back! How could this happen?!”

He roared at Winona, eyes blazing with anger.

Winpna walked over holding her trophy, and immediately denied everything.

“Nolan. I don’t know what happened either! I really did tell them to only go so far!”

She put on a look of heartbreak. “These people are absolutely terrible, how could they treat Mrs. Farley like this?”

Nolan didn’t press her any further after hearing that.

The next second, he slammed a clenched fist into the wall in a fit of rage.

He’d only wanted to punish Josette, to make her look like a fool on live TV.

That was why he’d explicitly told those people to hold back, to not actually hurt her.

But he never thought Josette would have actually killed herself over this.

He refreshed her location over and over, but the screen just showed that Josette had turned off her location services.

Endless anxiety ate away at him.

Just then, the event organizer walked over to Winona holding a copy of the video.

‘Ms. Johnson, if what’s shown in this video is true. I’m afraid we can’t present this award to you

Winona immediately grabbed the hem of Nolan’s shirt, and pleaded in a shaky, wronged voice

“Explain this for me. Nolan! I really wanted this trophy more than anything.”

However, Nolan pushed her away, something he’d never done before

“Is a trophy what matters right now?”

He’d lost all his patience, and stormed out.

He never could believe that Josette would leave her mother behind and kill herself.

But when he got to the hospital, all he received was a thin, flimsy death certificate.
