The Hybrid King’s Secret Mate Chapter 08

The Hybrid King’s Secret Mate Chapter 08

The sunset in the distance was just right.

I locked the shop while holding Riley’s hand.

The moment we were about to leave, a suppressed voice came from behind us.

“We understand.”

“We won’t… disturb you anymore.”

I couldn’t tell who said it.

Only Queen Macy’s faint sobbing drifted through the silence.

I paused for a second.

Then I kept walking forward without looking back, stepping straight into the sunset.

Riley tightened her grip on my hand.

“Paisley, I’m not like them. I’ll always stay with you.”

“I’ll always be by your side.”

“You’re the best person in the world!”

“I want sausage puffs tonight.”

I smiled.

“Alright. I’ll make them all for you.”

Behind us, the three of them stood still in silence.

Not another sound followed.

And after that, they really didn’t come back.

Life returned to peace.

Until one afternoon.

The glass door was shoved open hard.

Veda walked in, one hand supporting her slightly swollen belly, escorted by a group of royal

guards.

But there was no elegance in her expression.

Only hatred.

“Paisley, why are you still here?”

“Ten years ago, you should’ve died in that street!”

“You should’ve died when they hated you the most!”

“Not like this… lingering around like a ghost!”

I looked at her.

Only then did I notice how thin she had become under the designer outfit.

Dark circles shadowed her eyes.

The glow of someone once pampered and adored was completely gone.

I didn’t even bother engaging.

“If you’re not buying anything, leave.”

My calmness only enraged her further.

“You’re running this shop just so they feel guilty, aren’t you? Stop pretending to be noble!”

“Camden is my bonded mate now! I’m carrying his child! Why do you keep forcing yourself

into everything?”

“Ryker and Mom were always my family! You stole them for twenty years, isn’t that enough?”

Her voice cracked into hysteria, as if I were the guilty one.

I said nothing for a moment.

Then I walked straight up to her.

And slapped her.

Once.

Before she could react, I slapped her again.

“So in your mind,” I said quietly, “I owe you everything?”

Veda covered her face, her voice sharp with rage.

“You lowly bitch, how dare you hit me?!”

“Hold her down!”

The royal guards behind her moved forward.

But I was no longer the helpless so-called princess they once discarded.

I grabbed the silver crossbow hidden under the counter and shot the lead guard directly in the

knee.

Riley rushed out from the kitchen at the sound, raising a gun loaded with silver bullets.

The shop fell into chaos.

A trembling maid whispered,

“Queen Veda, should we inform King Camden and King Ryker?”

Veda’s face turned pale.

“Shut up! If anyone dares to speak about today-”

Before she could finish,

the door was slammed open.

Camden stood at the entrance.

His voice was cold.

“Veda. What are you doing?”
