My Cold Infertile CEO Regretted Everything After Ten Miscarriages Chapter 03

I lay in my own blood, staring at the ceiling. My mind drifted back to the first time I got pregnant.

I’d run to him with the pregnancy test, so happy I thought he’d feel the same.

He stared at it for a long time, face blank. I told myself he was just nervous about being a father.

The next day he brought me a bowl, lying and saying it would help the baby stick.

Less than an hour after I drank it, blood ran down my legs.

I broke down screaming at him. He dropped to his knees in front of me, eyes red.

He said he’d made a promise to his brother—the first Voss heir had to be Seraphina’s.

He said he had no choice. That we’d have children later. That he’d love me forever.

I believed him.

The second time I got pregnant, same bowl, same lie, same kneel, same words.

I believed him again.

Then came the third.

I didn’t even know I was pregnant when I went to a gala.

The room was loud, and I overheard people whispering in the corner.”Elias Voss liked Seraphina first, didn’t he?””Sure did. But his brother got to her first. Look how he still looks at her…””Why’d he marry this one, then?””Who knows? Family arrangement, probably.”

The wine glass slipped from my hand and shattered.

So he didn’t reject our babies because of a promise. He loved someone else—his brother’s wife.

He just didn’t want any other woman carrying his child.

I stood in the corner of the ballroom, squeezing the broken glass until my hand hurt.

That night, I bled heavily.

The third baby was gone before I even knew it was there.

Then the fourth, fifth, sixth…

The pain in my stomach turned into a dull, constant ache, like a rusted knife sawing at my bones.

I dragged myself out of bed. Blood ran down my thighs, leaving a dark trail across the floor.

I knelt and cleaned it up, just like I always did.

The repetition made me sick to my stomach.

The doorbell rang.

Before I could answer, the door swung open.

It was the staff from the Voss Estate.

Elowen Voss led the way, followed by household staff.

Their eyes flicked from the blood on the floor to my pale face, disgust plain on their faces.”Lost another one?”

She sat down without greeting me.

I said nothing.

“I told you you weren’t good enough for the Voss name.”

She lifted a tea cup and blew on it.”If Elias hadn’t insisted, you never would’ve gotten in. Three years, and you can’t even keep a baby.”

I hung my head and didn’t fight back.

When Elias wanted to marry me, no one at the estate approved.

They said I was from a working-class background, unworthy of the Voss family.

But Elias knelt in the Family Mausoleum for three full days and nights.

His knees swelled so bad he could barely take off his pants. His face was covered in dust, but his eyes burned bright.

He said,”Don’t be scared. I’m going to marry you.”

Back then, I really thought he loved me.

Maybe he did, just a little. But that little piece was never enough compared to Seraphina.

Elowen set down her cup and nodded at the staff behind her.

Two people stepped forward and grabbed my arms.”Mom, what are you doing?”

I struggled.

“Check her,” she said coldly.”See if she’s really infertile. If she can still have kids, we won’t divorce yet. Don’t need people saying the Voss family is cruel.”

They pushed me down onto the sofa.

Someone reached for my pants. I fought back, scratching the person’s hand.

“Hold her down!” Elowen snapped.

More staff rushed over and pinned me completely.

Just as my pants were pulled down, a voice came from the doorway.
