My Rescue Was Their Reunion, My Hell Was Their Project Chapter 07

Every word hit like a blow. 

Julian’s head snapped up. “She has cancer? It was real?” 

The doctor held up a stack of files. “These are the patient’s full medical records from the experimental facility in Ravens Hollow.” 

He flipped through them without flinching. “She was held there for three years. Forced drug trials, every session logged. Thirty liters of blood drawn. Seventeen rounds of invasive experimental surgeries. Forty–six experimental compounds injected.” 

He set the files down. “The result is systemic organ failure 

compounded by widespread metastasis.” 

Silence. 

“These records were sent to the project’s primary sponsors regularly.” The doctor looked at them. “All three of you are listed. None of you read them?” 

Arthur grabbed the file. His eyes stuck on the front page – the 

sponsor field. 

Arthur. Julian. Nolan. 

All three names. Right there. 

The pages slipped through his shaking hands and scattered 

across the floor. 

“We got those reports…” Arthur’s voice was barely human. “But they all said she was fine. Every number, every result – 

normal.” 

The doctor picked up one of the scattered sheets, read it, and 

his face changed. “These numbers have been altered. Someone changed the data before it got to you.” He held up a second set. “The originals are right here.” 

Julian held both reports side by side. 

The real numbers were a disaster – severe anemia, liver failure, kidney damage, tumor markers through the roof. The versions they’d been sent showed nothing. Clean. Healthy. 

Normal. 

“Chloe.” Nolan’s voice sliced through the silence. 

He held up his phone. On the screen, server logs and estate. security feeds. 

Chloe at a computer, logging into the email system. Opening each report, editing the numbers, replacing real data with normal values, hitting send. Methodical. Practiced. Calm. 

Three years. Every single report. She hadn’t missed one. 

Something in Arthur’s face changed – grief turning into something far worse. He turned and was out the door before anyone could stop him. 

“Chloe!”
