Revenge of the Missing Wife Chapter 09

Revenge of the Missing Wife Chapter 09

The plane cut through the sky as I flew toward my new life in Europe. In a city as vast as New York, the disappearance of an ordinary middle-class family like ours went unnoticed. No one truly cared.

Much later, I heard fragments of what happened after I left.

I heard that at the exact moment my plane departed the United States, Landon was with Ava, holding her in her luxury apartment on the Upper East Side as they watched a movie together.

For no apparent reason, a sudden unease crept into his heart.

It was an empty, hollow feeling-as if something vital had slipped away forever at that very moment.

Ava noticed his distraction and looked up at him with concern. “What’s wrong, babe?”

“Nothing. Just my imagination.” Landon shook his head and smiled faintly, pulling her closer into his arms.

“Hmph! You’re spacing out while you’re with me? I’m going to punish you!”

She pouted playfully, her fingers tickling him all over, until she exhausted herself laughing.

“So boring! Why aren’t you ticklish at all?”

Landon let out a soft laugh. “If that punishment doesn’t work, we’ll try something else.”

With that, he lifted her effortlessly in his arms and carried her toward the bedroom.

They laughed and teased each other. At some point, the playful mood shifted, turning into a lingering kiss.

The room filled with warmth and desire.

It was said that for three days straight, they stayed tangled together.

But what began as novelty and satisfaction slowly turned into something else. Ava tried everything, putting in all her effort, experimenting with different ways to please him. Yet Landon grew increasingly distracted.

It wasn’t that he had grown tired of the acts.

He had grown tired of her.

Being with the same person all the time… it suddenly felt dull.

More importantly, Eleanor hadn’t sent him a single message in a long time.

She had done exactly what he wanted-she hadn’t disturbed him at all while he was with Ava.

This was supposed to be what he wanted.

And yet, something about it left him unsettled.

Landon glanced at his phone. Their chat history had gone from constant conversation to only a few sparse messages.

The last call had been days ago, after that incident with the car.

He frowned, irritation rising in his chest.

He had said he didn’t want to be disturbed-so she really did nothing?

Did she even remember she was his wife?

Again and again, Landon tapped on her profile, waiting for a message that never came. The screen remained silent.

He hesitated, unsure whether he should call her himself.

Before he could decide, Ava suddenly covered his eyes from behind. “Guess what surprise I prepared for you!”

She played mysterious, but the sheer lace of her nightgown brushed lightly against his neck, deliberately seductive.

Caught off guard, Landon’s finger slipped across the screen.

The call went through.

“Sorry, the number you have dialed is not in service…”

The mechanical female voice rang clearly through the room.

They both froze.

“Whatever it is, we’ll talk later!”

Landon shoved Ava away impatiently and dialed again, disbelief flooding his expression.

But the same voice answered.

“Sorry, the number you have dialed is not in service…”

“How is that possible?” His mind went blank. He couldn’t understand what had happened.

Ava glanced at the contact name and spoke gently, though her tone carried a hint of calculation.

“Don’t worry, Landon. Maybe Eleanor is just busy… or maybe she’s upset with you, jealous of me, so she canceled her number on purpose. She probably wants you to panic and go back to her.”

“She’s still your wife. Where could she go? What could possibly happen?”

She smiled faintly.

“She’s probably waiting in the Park Avenue apartment right now… waiting for you to go back and comfort her.”
