He Cut My Tendons to Make Room for Her, Then Promised to Keep Me as a Pet Chapter 06

He Cut My Tendons to Make Room for Her, Then Promised to Keep Me as a Pet Chapter 06

Sitting in my father’s private car, I watched the streaks of gray in both my parents’ hair and found

myself thinking back to the year I enlisted at Blackwood Naval Base.

That was the year the Sovereign Republic of Vandonia enforced mandatory military service for every able-bodied young adult, regardless of gender. I was their only child. Of course they could not bear the thought of me suffering through it.

While they ran around trying to pull strings and find a way to exempt me, I met Elias at the hospital.

Just like something out of a TV drama, I fell for him at first sight.

I asked around, dug into his background, and when I got home, I begged my father to arrange for

me to be assigned to Blackwood Naval Base where Elias was stationed.

My parents could not refuse me in the end.

Back then, I was filled with nothing but excitement for the future. That illusion shattered on the

very first day of training. It nearly broke me.

Luckily, the Elite Performance Corps was recruiting. I had studied piano for years, and among a group of recruits who could barely carry a tune, I stood out immediately. That was how I got in.

From then on, Elias showed up to every single one of my performances.

With Director Volkov playing matchmaker, we started seeing each other, fell in love, and eventually got married. Everything felt natural, inevitable.

Blackwood was far from home. I could only send a telegram to tell my parents I had gotten married.

My father lost his temper and cursed me out. He even said he no longer had a daughter.

And yet, behind my back, he investigated Elias thoroughly. Later, he even offered him quite a bit of

support.

Looking back now, maybe Elias agreed to marry me because of what my father could offer him.

He had always been rational. He never did anything that did not benefit him.

After everything that happened, I was transferred to Saint Jude’s Royal Medical Center, the best hospital in St. Novell. My father pulled every connection he had until he secured a full team of specialists to examine me.

The diagnosis was devastating.

The damage to my arms and legs was severe, and too much time had passed. They could piece

things back together, barely, but with current medical technology, a full recovery was almost impossible.

I lay in my hospital bed while my parents’ sobs drifted in through the window.

There was a moment when I thought about ending it all.

But I could not erase the image of my parents, their backs bent with age, running everywhere to

find someone who could save me.

My mother massaged my legs every single day without fail. My father held my hand, filled with

regret, never daring to look at my legs.

“This is our fault. We should never have agreed to let you enlist. We should never have let you

marry that bastard.”

“You loved playing piano. You loved dancing. Seeing you like this… it’s killing us. This is all my

fault. I should have dragged you home even if I had to tie you up,” my father said, his voice breaking

as he cried.

I was the one injured.

But they were the ones suffering the most.

Thanks to my mother’s relentless therapy and follow-ups, I eventually regained enough strength to hold things again.

But I could never play the piano.

I could never dance.

And the damage to my face could not be repaired. The scars were permanent.

I did not care much about appearances, but for the sake of others, I started wearing a scarf to cover

My father hated Elias with a passion. He filed report after report, refusing to stop even when no one

responded.

Meanwhile, Elias had been searching for me.

He spent a fortune publishing our story in newspapers.

It laid everything out in detail. How we met, how we fell in love, our life after marriage, and everything that followed.

At the very end was his public apology.

[Lily, please come back. I’ve been searching everywhere but I can’t find you.

I know I was wrong. I was blind to misunderstand you. I swear I will cut all ties with Amber. Please give me one more chance.

I’ll wait for you, no matter how long it takes.]

For days, every newspaper I picked up carried his apology.

It was suffocating.

From the nurses’ gossip, I learned that both Amber and Elias had become infamous.

Everything Amber did to me had been exposed.

Overnight, I went from being labeled a thief who stole from the Elite Performance Corps to the

victim.

The police arrested the group who kidnapped me. They confessed everything.

Elias had originally ordered them to break one of my legs so I could never dance again.

Amber paid them an additional one hundred fifty thousand dollars to slash my face and sever the

tendons in my hands and legs.

At first, she told them to kill me.

But they were too afraid to go that far. When they saw I was barely breathing, they assumed I would die anyway and left.

No one expected me to survive.

Amber was expelled from the Elite Performance Corps, and her reputation was completely

destroyed.

Everyone knew about her relationship with Elias. With that kind of scandal attached to her name, no

decent family would ever accept her.

Not even the most desperate men in her hometown wanted her.

In the end, her family cut ties with her. She spiraled into addiction and ended up homeless.

When I heard all of that, I let out a long breath.

Karma had finally caught up to her.

She got exactly what she deserved.
