He Called Me His Mother’s Killer And Tried To Transfer Me To His Friend Chapter 05

Grant’s eyes went wide. His face turned purple with rage.

“How is this even possible?!”

He didn’t believe it. His eyes bored into me.

Seeing him look like he’d just bitten into a rotten lemon was deeply satisfying.

“What? You can do this, but I can’t?”

Tessa piled on. “Grant, no wonder you got divorced. I thought you two just weren’t compatible.”

“Turns out you’re the one who got cheated on!”

Deke looked stunned and furious. He turned to Grant, demanding answers with just a look.

Grant’s face turned ashen with rage as he rounded on me.

“When did you start sneaking around with this younger guy behind my back?!”

“No wonder you agreed to the divorce so fast. You’d already been cheating on me!”

The angrier Grant got, the louder he became. Within seconds, he had everyone’s attention.

He jabbed a finger at my face and yelled, “Have you no shame? You ever think about what this does to

your sons?!”

Caleb started to defend me, but I caught his arm.

I stepped forward and pushed Grant’s finger out of my face.

I didn’t need to scream like he did to stand my ground.

“Grant, I have nothing to be ashamed of. I can remarry whenever I want.”

“Why don’t you ask yourself what really drove us to divorce?”

“I didn’t fight with you. I didn’t make a scene. Did you really think I was some clueless fool you could keep

in the dark forever?!”

“All because of that money, you called me heartless and blamed me for your mother’s death!”

“I heard everything you said to Deke that day.”

“I also heard you say that now Tessa’s divorced, you’d give her $300,000 in cash to marry you.”

The more I spoke, the more disappointed I felt. My eyes burned.

Not because I still cared about him, but because fourteen years of giving my all suddenly felt like a waste.

“I marry again, it’ll be to someone I choose. What made you think you could decide that for me?”

“What made you think I’d actually listen to you and get with Deke?!”

I let out a bitter, mocking laugh.

“Who the hell do you think you are? What gives you the right to hand me over to another man like I’m some piece of property?!”

Grant froze, guilt all over his face. He couldn’t believe I’d overheard him talking to Deke that day.

The onlookers started whispering. With every word, all three of them lost a little more face.

Tessa snapped. “Your divorce has nothing to do with me. Don’t drag me into this!”

I turned my mocking gaze on her.

“I never came after you. I never even fought with Grant over you. That alone should tell you I’m done with

him.”

“A middle–aged man who’s accomplished nothing, throwing away his family just to get back with the first love who dumped him for being poor and married someone else.”

“If you can take a man like that, you’ve done me a favor. You pulled me right out of a living hell.”

“So spare me the act. Stop insisting this has nothing to do with you!”

Tessa’s face tightened. She was speechless.
