2 Million? No, Just 200! So I Fled With My Twins Chapter 06

Nyx shook her head in a panic, all wide-eyed innocence. “That’s fake! Morgana made all of it up to frame me. There are knockoffs of that watch everywhere. How does that prove it’s mine?”

Eleanor slammed her hand on the table. “Enough! Corin, you’d better explain yourself.”

I calmly picked up another document and had the staff put it on the big screen.

“These are all the Nightstalker Group’s internal payment approvals from the past three years marked as child

support or divorce settlement. Every single one has Corin’s signature at the bottom.”

“Here are the matching wire receipts. Not one of these payments went to an account in my name. They all

went to an offshore shell company.”

I paused and glanced at Nyx, who looked sicker by the second. “My investigators dug three layers deep

through the company filings and ownership records. The man who really controls that company is a distant

uncle of Nyx’s.”

Gasps rippled through the audience. I clicked the remote again, and the screen filled with a long row of

social media screenshots.

“This is everything Nyx has posted on her public Instagram in the past three years.”

“She posted her move-in video for a downtown penthouse exactly seven days after the Nightstalker Group wired out that 500 thousand settlement. Her custom diamond necklace unboxing went up three days after

the second big transfer.”

“Then there are the private jet trips, the VIP auction check-ins and the geotag on her new place overseas. Every time she showed off something big, it lined up with a so-called child support payment going out.”

Nyx didn’t know what to do with her hands. “You’re lying. It’s all fake. You photoshopped it to frame me. I never bought any of that stuff.”

I gave her a cold smile. “Photoshopped, huh? Then the platform’s records will back you up. Or better yet, pull

up your account right now and show everyone whether you’ve deleted anything.”

Nyx froze up, her eyes darting away. She didn’t dare answer.

Eleanor’s face was stormy. She turned to the people behind her. “Go get the CFO. I want the books opened up right now.”

“Pull every approval and every bank record. I’m not leaving this chair until I find out who’s lying.”

Corin had gone rigid. He couldn’t tear his eyes away from the payment approvals on the screen. The

signatures were his, and he remembered every one of those payments.

When Nyx brought them to him, she had said they were living expenses and relocation money for me. The

amounts matched, so he signed without ever checking the receiving account.

Corin was trembling as he turned to Nyx. “Those payments were supposed to go to Morgana’s personal

account. That’s the account I approved.”

Nyx scrambled to explain. “Morgana asked to switch accounts herself. She said her personal account was a hassle, so she had me send the money to an offshore company. She also didn’t want you knowing what she

spent it on.”

I snorted. “Oh, I switched accounts? I don’t even know what that company’s called. Go ahead, tell me when I

said that. Where were we? Who else was there to back you up?”

Nyx hemmed and hawed. When she realized her story was falling apart, she spun around and made a run for the exit. But security was waiting at the door, and they blocked her and sent her right back.

Reporters swarmed her and shoved their mics in her face.

“Nyx, did you really pocket three years of Ms. Hail’s child support?”

“Was that offshore company how you hid the money?”

“Did you do all this to split up the Alpha and the Luna so you could take her place?”

Nyx crouched on the floor with her face in her hands, shaking all over. She couldn’t squeeze out a single

word.

The room descended into chaos. Someone scrolling on their phone suddenly shouted, “The Nightstalker

Group’s stock is tanking.”

The launch broke up in a hurry. Reporters chased Nyx out, and the guests trickled away.

Corin hurried after me. His throat worked a few times before he finally choked out the words. “Morgana, I’m

sorry.”

“I was blind. I was stupid. I didn’t see what was right in front of me, and I blamed you for so long.”

“The kids have been through so much. Come home with me. I’ll give you everything you want and get the kids

the best nannies and teachers. I’ll do whatever you say from now on and make it all up to you. Please?”

Holding Dorian’s and Isolde’s hands, I took half a step back and looked at him calmly. “Make it up to me?

Corin, an apology three years late isn’t worth squat. You think one sorry wipes the slate clean? Nice try.”

I didn’t wait for his answer. I turned and walked off with the kids.
