The Hypnotized Stand-In Has Awakened—the True Heiress Is Terrified Chapter 15

The Hypnotized Stand-In Has Awakened—the True Heiress Is Terrified Chapter 15

A few years passed.

I graduated from graduate school and started my own

company.

From a cramped little office with just three employees to landing our first round of funding, to seeing my name in the financial press.

I was no longer a side character in someone else’s story. No longer a footnote in someone else’s life.

I was Elise Harrington–the protagonist of my own life.

The day Adrian proposed, there were no grand fireworks displays, no swarms of reporters.

He simply waited for me downstairs at my company.

A contract was placed on the back seat of his car.

I flipped it open and glanced through it. Then I shocked.

It was a cooperation agreement for a major Whitmore project.

With the Whitmore Group as Party A. And my company as

Party B.

I looked up at him.

He extended his other hand. A ring rested in his palm.

“Elise. Business is business. Feelings are feelings.”

“You can take your time reviewing the contract.”

“But can you approve my marriage application first?”

I looked at him. And suddenly, my eyes were stinging.

Over the years, Adrian had never pressured me. He said he would wait, and he truly did.

When I started my business, he introduced resources but never interfered with my decisions.

When trouble hit, he was always the first one there–but he never took the decision out of my hands.

He gave me enough security. And enough freedom.

I finally smiled. “Adrian.”

“Yes.”

“You’re really good at this.”

He smiled. “So, boss… do I get the green light?”

I took the ring and slipped it onto my finger. “Greenlit.”

On the day of our engagement, many people from the old money elite circle attended.

The hall was filled with luxury and chatter, glasses clinking

everywhere.

I stood beside Adrian in a white dress.

People offered their congratulations. Some laid it on thick.

And some people sighed in admiration.

“Mr. Whitmore and Ms. Harrington are truly a perfect match.”

Adrian held my hand. He didn’t give a polite, performative smile.

Instead, he corrected them seriously. “Not fate. I chased her. I won her.”

Something stirred in my chest.

I was about to speak when a commotion erupted at the

entrance of the hall.

Jason had arrived. Behind him stood a silver humanoid AI.

Its skin, eyes, and expression were so lifelike it was unsettlingly perfect.

But the moment it lifted its head–my hand went still. That

face… it was Blair’s.

The humanoid AI locked onto me. Then it glitched–hard.

“No! This isn’t right!” Its voice came out distorted–too shrill,

too human, all wrong.

“Elise–you were the side character!”

“You were supposed to jump off a building!”

“You were supposed to be crushed into a mess of flesh!”

“Adrian is mine! The one who should marry him is me!”

The entire hall fell silent. Everyone stared at the screaming

machine.

Jason stood lazily, walked up to it, and lightly tapped its face.

“Blair. Still haven’t figured it out yet?”

The humanoid froze.

Jason leaned down slightly, his voice low but clear enough for everyone to hear.

“Who do you think you can still control?”

“Who do you think you are? You’re something that can’t even tell if it’s still human anymore.”

He straightened and nodded to the technicians nearby.

The humanoid AI’s eyes flickered once, as if all power had

been drained from it.

Its head lolled to the side. Completely powered down.
