The Girl the Pack Treated as a Joke Was Actually a Powerful White Wolf Chapter 09

Nolan lunged for my arm.

Before his fingers connected, two Enforcers flanked him, slamming him face-first onto the stage floor in a

brutal lock.

A border Alpha had no standing under sovereign law.

Pinned flat, he strained to look up, his eyes laced with red. “Lyra… you can’t do this to me…”

I clipped the mic into its cradle and walked off the stage.

Chloe and Mia fell in beside me at the exit.

“Come on,” Mia said. “Mess hall is still open. Dinner’s on us.”

Stepping outside into the cold mountain air, I took a deep breath.

A sudden grip caught my sleeve.

Serena.

Before I could pull away, a piercing shriek cut through the courtyard, followed by the dull thud of a body

tumbling down stone stairs.

She lay curled at the bottom, blood weeping from a jagged split above her brow.

“Lyra… I know you wish I was dead, but… was pushing me really the only way?”

The crowd spilled through the doors, every eye snapping toward me.

Over by the gate, Nolan stood frozen where the Enforcers had dumped him. He didn’t budge.

Serena let three seconds hang before pitching her sobs higher.

“Nolan, it hurts… She shoved me before I could grab the rail…”

Still, Nolan didn’t move.

He had watched her take a deliberate dive.

“Nolan!” Real panic slipped into her voice.

“Why aren’t you coming down?! I’m bleeding!”

Nolan’s jaw locked. He didn’t take a single step.

My mother shoved through the cadets, dropping beside Serena and baring her teeth at me. “You vicious

snake! You pushed her!”

“Security dome,” I said calmly, pointing to the glowing red diode over the archway. “One pull of the high-res

feed, and everyone sees who threw herself down.”

Serena’s sobs hitched mid-breath.

Three days later, Chloe dropped her slate onto my desk in the study hall.

“Your rejected Alpha is having a full-blown meltdown on the regional channels. Look at this.”

Her family lands bordered ours, so their networks overlapped.

Across Nolan’s feed was a photo of Serena inside the VIP booth of Night Howl Club, bathed in neon and

surrounded by high-end bottles.

His caption was razor-sharp:

[A week before the Final Trials. She was here.]

The comments tore her apart over her supposed “alcohol allergy.”

“Scroll down,” Chloe urged.

The second post was a leaked message thread between Serena and a rogue heir named Axel:

[I’m not making Royal Crescent anyway. Let that training freak Lyra break her back for the family-I’m here to enjoy the ride.]

The third post went up at two in the morning. Ten words:

[I destroyed the only person who was ever true to me.]

He had finally run his own checks and found the rot underneath.

It meant nothing to me. I pulled my tactical report closer and kept writing.

By dusk on the fourth day, a violent downpour swept Northcrest.

Stepping out from the tactical archives, I found a ring of cadets gathered near the colonnade.

Mia pushed through, catching my sleeve. “Lyra. He’s been out there in the storm for nearly two hours.”

I walked to the archway.

Through the gray curtain of rain, Nolan knelt on the jagged flagstones.

The second his bloodshot eyes caught mine through the sheets of water, his entire frame shuddered as if

struck by lightning.
