I Sent Away Every Woman He Loved Until I Became the One Who Left Chapter 15

Daniel Whitmore turned his head.

Grant stepped forward, voice tight. “Where are you taking my wife?”

He recognized him now. Jessica’s older brother, Daniel.

When had she gotten so close to him?

Daniel glanced at Meredith, confirmed something, then turned to Grant.

“Mr. Keller, I’m Ms. Winslow’s attorney of record.”

“I drafted the divorce agreement. I delivered it to your front desk.”

“My client’s wishes are clear. I’m responsible for getting her somewhere safe.”

Grant’s pupils contracted.

He’d seen him once at a charity gala last year.

Someone had introduced him as the eldest Whitmore, a commercial litigator.

Grant hadn’t paid attention. Hadn’t even remembered his name.

“When did she hire you?” Grant’s voice was hoarse. “If it’s about Brittany, I can…’

“Mr. Keller, my client’s wishes aren’t something I can disclose.” Daniel cut him off.

Meredith didn’t interrupt.

She tucked her phone into her coat pocket.

Then nodded at Daniel. “Let’s go. I don’t remember this guy, but looking at him makes me uncomfortable.”

“The less I look, the longer I live.”

Grant’s heart took a direct hit.

Once, his face had been her medicine,

One day without seeing him and she’d have anxiety attacks.

He was her only source of security. The disease she couldn’t leave or quit.

Now she couldn’t.even be bothered to look at him.

Grant wanted to call her name.

But her back had already crossed the yard and gotten into the black car.

Gone beyond the iron gate.

The wind still blew through the trees like nothing had happened.

But everything had changed.
