Seven Years As His Wife… Until My Own Son Called Me A Homewrecker Chapter 14

The girls froze with their bats raised.

Their whispers carried across the ruined shop.

“She really has a husband and kid?”

“Look at him. He’s gorgeous. I totally get the appeal of an older guy now.”

“If that’s your type, he’s all yours. Just stay away from Ryan.”

“Doesn’t he look loaded? Why would his wife be running a little coffee shop? Unless she isn’t actually his wife. Maybe she’s the homewrecker.”

My body went rigid.

Before I could respond, Adrian stepped in front of me. He adjusted his watch and faced them with a cold,

unreadable expression.

“She was my lawful wife. We had a marriage certificate and a public wedding. Watch what you say about

her.”

I stared at his back.

Months earlier, those words would have undone me. I would have abandoned every thought of divorce and

gone back to loving him with all the sense of a fool.

Now they meant nothing.

He had finally defended me when I no longer needed his defense..

The girls left. Noah stood beside the counter and looked up at me uncertainly.

“Mom…”

I met his eyes. “Your father and I are divorced, and I gave him full custody. You already chose someone else

to be your mother.”

Tears spilled down his face.

Adrian picked him up. “Mia, I know you’re angry, but he is still your son. You can’t speak to him like that.”

I laughed. “He’s my son, yet he called me a homewrecker.

“Being young doesn’t erase the harm he caused. I’m sorry, but I can’t love a child who treated me that way as

though nothing happened.”

I removed Noah’s fingers from my shirt. He lost his balance and sat down hard. Instead of wailing the way he

once would have, he hunched his shoulders and stifled every sob.

I did not know exactly what had happened to him, but it was clear the past few weeks had changed him.

It hurt to see, but I refused to let that pain control me.

Adrian stared at me. “He’s crying right in front of you, and you can ignore him? Do you know what Vanessa

did to him? She hit him. She withheld food.”

“Then hold Vanessa accountable.” I cut him off before he could shift the burden onto me. “I did not hurt him.

Why am I expected to repair damage someone else caused?”

I gave him a cold smile. “Whatever you came here to accomplish, guilt will not work anymore.”

I turned away, but Adrian caught my hand.

“What if I came to take you home?” His voice was hoarse. “I know now that Vanessa was never physically or mentally ill. She deceived me, and I hurt you because I believed her. I’m sorry.”

His grip tightened. “Come back with me. I’ll have the divorce challenged. We can restore our marriage and

continue where we left off.”

I looked at him in disbelief, then laughed.

“What makes you think an apology entities you to forgiveness? I don’t even plan to forgive Noah. Why would I forgive you?”
