My Godfather Husband Gave Our Marriage a Zero, but Refused to Let Me Divorce Him Chapter 08

Livia flinched backward from his sharp outburst.

“Rocco, every piece of advice I gave you was for your own good. I’ve helped countless couples save their marriages. I only wanted you to be happy.”

“At the time, I truly believed she was using you, that’s why I said those terrible things. admit I messed up, but I never meant to cause her mother’s death.”

Rocco cut her off abruptly. “Did you pay for bots to boost those posts? And that resale shop’s social-media account-you paid them off, didn’t you?”

Livia burst into hysterical sobs. “Rocco, just listen to my explanation.”

“I thought I’d helped you succeed, and I wanted to turn your marriage into a case study for my business, that’s all.”

Rocco pinned her with a hard, unblinking gaze.

“You claimed to hold a doctorate in developmental psychology from overseas. Which university awarded it? Where is your diploma? I’d like to see what kind of PhD ruins a man’s marriage.”

Livia’s face went pale. “You don’t believe me anymore.’

“We grew up together. We walked to school every morning. I brought you breakfast, cut class with you. Have you forgotten all of that?”

Rocco laughed, sharp and furious. “I should have stopped believing you a long time ago!”

His hand rose and landed across her cheek with a loud crack.

“Get out. You’ve made an enemy of the entire Visconti family!”

Livia clutched her stinging cheek, stunned and in disbelief.

Sobbing, she ran out the door.

Rocco slid slowly down the cold wall until he sat on the floor.

His gaze drifted toward the trash can. Inside lay a simple thin band. He fished it out.

This was the ring he’d given me when he proposed. It had never been expensive.

On our wedding day, he’d promised to replace it with a bigger diamond later. But I’d shaken my

head, unwilling to let him spend so much money.

This one means more,” I’d told him firmly.

He had still felt guilty about it. That was why he planned to bid on the ten-million-dollar pink diamond, have it custom-set, and present it to me.

He’d smiled but warned me, insisting that I deserved the largest diamond ring, that I no longer

needed to struggle anymore.

Slowly, I had started to accept our comfortable life and believe I deserved good things.

Everything shattered the moment Livia returned home.

She convinced Rocco that a lavish diamond would only fuel my greed. Then she turned around, batted her eyelashes and gushed over that very gem, begging to borrow it for a few days.

The diamond meant as his promise to me had become hers.

The Maldives honeymoon that had been mine became her trip as well.

Regret drowned Rocco.

“Odette, you’re not home. Where did you go? I need to explain myself. Just give me a chance.”

No reply ever arrived. He would never get the answer he waited for.

Rocco summoned the family lawyer and ordered a full investigation into Livia’s past.

A thick stack of documents landed on his desk.

“Boss, the woman you asked us to investigate never attended university,” the lawyer said cautiously. “Every diploma and professional credential she presented was forged.”

Rocco gripped the file. “I want her to pay for everything she’s done.”

Online public outrage kept spreading, and Livia’s scandal gained more traction by the hour.

[Rocco Visconti must have lost his mind.]

[How foolish can he be, trusting that con artist instead of his loyal wife?]

[Exactly. Livia calls Odette a gold digger, but she was the real leech all along.]
