Reborn, I Gave Him What He Wanted and Stopped Saving Him Chapter 12

The figure in the wheelchair froze.

After a long silence, Alexander finally emerged from the shadows.

Maybe because Emily had pushed him into the truck, his injuries were even worse than mine had

been.

The man who had always cared about his appearance now had a full beard. He was shockingly thin

and looked exhausted.

If I had seen him like this before, I might have worried.

Now I felt nothing.

I spoke coldly.

“If I remember correctly, we’re broken up. Why are you following me?”

Alexander’s eyes widened.

His gaze locked onto me.

His voice trembled. But instead of answering, he asked:

“Sophia, did you… Did you get another chance?”

“Is that why you broke up with me? Is that why you refused to save me?”

I froze.

I hadn’t expected Alexander to know about my previous life.

I didn’t know why he had come after me.

But whatever his reason was, I knew it wouldn’t be good.

Still, everything had already happened.

There was no reason to hide it anymore.

I nodded.

“Yes. So you’ve been following me for days just to blame me for not saving you?”

Alexander stared at me in disbelief.

Pain filled his eyes.

His voice was hoarse.

“Sophia. Do you really think I’m that kind of person? Then what kind of person are you?”

I laughed.

“Alexander, if you remember everything from the previous life, how can you even ask me that?”

“You were the one who said you’d rather die in that crash than let me save you.”

“I gave you exactly what you wanted.”

“I ended our relationship.”

“I left you and Emily alone.”

“So what exactly are you unhappy about?”

Alexander couldn’t answer.

He kept shaking his head.

“No. That’s not it. I’ve always loved you.”

“I was just too tired, so I… I’m sorry.. I know I was wrong.”

“Please give me another chance. I swear I’ll spend the rest of my life making it up to you.”

He pulled several folders from his bag.

“Sophia.”

“These are all the assets under my name.”

“If you come back with me, they’re yours.”

I stared at the documents.

For several seconds, I couldn’t speak.

In my previous life, I had lost both legs for Alexander.

He had never offered me everything he owned.

Alexander mistook my silence for hesitation.

Hope appeared in his eyes.

“We’ll have a huge wedding when we get back. I swear I’ll never hurt you again.”

The next second, I pushed his hand away.

“Your offer is tempting.”

“But the thought of spending the rest of my life with you makes me sick.”

His face froze.

I felt no pity.

Only relief.

I still remembered the day Alexander had carried me out of the fire.

He had told me that if he’d known I would kill Emily, he would rather have died in the crash.

He had wished I had never saved him.

That pain had almost destroyed me.

Now I had returned it to him.

I took a slow breath.

“Alexander, I don’t love you anymore. If you truly feel guilty, stop chasing me. Leave me alone.”

His face gradually turned pale, and his eyes filled with despair

“Sophia. Please don’t do this.”

People walking by began looking over.

I tried to leave. Alexander refused to let me go. When he reached for my hand again, another hand

grabbed his wrist.

The man stepped between us.

I looked up. It was Ethan.

Ethan looked down at Alexander coldly.

“Didn’t you hear her? She told you to stop bothering her.”

Relief washed through me when I saw him. I smiled.

That smile immediately enraged Alexander.

“Sophia! You’re refusing to come back because of him, aren’t you?”

“You’ve only been away from me for a few days. Already you’re with another man? How can you do

this to me?”

Ethan looked him over. His expression was mocking.

“So you’re the man who nearly got Sophia killed for another woman.”

“I’ve heard about you. You two are already broken up. Who Sophia spends time with is none of your business. Or do you expect her to mourn you for three years?”

Alexander had never been spoken to like that.

His face darkened.

“Who the hell are you? What gives you the right to interfere in my relationship with Sophia?”

His arrogance left my explanation stuck in my throat.

I laughed coldly.

“The person without any right is you.”

“Alexander, we’re done. Who I spend time with has nothing to do with you.”

I slipped my arm through Ethan’s.

“Let’s go. Ignore him.”

Ethan nodded. He stayed between us and walked away with me.

Alexander tried to follow.

His wheelchair struck a stone on the sidewalk.

He lost his balance and fell hard.

But his eyes stayed fixed on me.

“Sophia! Don’t go. Please don’t leave me.”

Just like I had once watched him walk toward Emily without being able to stop him.

This time, I didn’t look back.

Not once.

Just like he had done to me.
