Reborn, I Gave Him What He Wanted and Stopped Saving Him Chapter 10

Alexander had a long dream.

In the dream, everything was different.

On the day of the crash, Sophia was beside him instead of Emily.

Just as he had always imagined, Sophia’s first instinct was to push him away.

The truck hit her instead. She lost both legs.

The day Sophia was discharged, Alexander proposed to her in front of everyone.

Did he love Sophia?

His friends and colleagues had asked him that question.

Even his family couldn’t understand why he wanted to marry her.

Everyone thought Sophia wasn’t good enough for him.

Especially after she lost both legs.

They told him:

“Marriage is forever. You have a brilliant future ahead of you. Don’t throw it away.”

“She lost her legs saving you, but repaying that debt doesn’t mean you have to marry her. You could give her enough money to live comfortably for the rest of her life.”

“Don’t destroy your future because of one emotional decision.”

But when Alexander looked at Sophia’s pale face in the hospital bed, he didn’t think about his future.

He didn’t think about repaying a debt. He only wanted her to smile again. He wanted her to hold his arm and tease him like she used to.

He wanted her eyes to light up whenever she looked at him.

That was the first time Alexander realized he might love Sophia more than he had ever understood.

So he married her without hesitation.

After the wedding, he did everything he could for her.

He tried to make up for everything he had failed to give her before.

But Sophia was always afraid he didn’t love her.

He didn’t understand.

He had done everything he could think of.

He deleted every female contact.

He canceled social events.

He reported his whereabouts.

He even installed a location tracker himself.

But she still suspected him.

Day after day, the suspicion and explanations exhausted him.

He started suffering from insomnia.

Then one day, after completing two difficult surgeries, he collapsed from exhaustion.

Emily stayed beside him.

She wore a white dress.

Her hair was tied back.

She smiled softly and called him by his old nickname.

For a moment, Alexander was pulled back into the past.

Back when he was young and ambitious.

Back when he was his mentor’s favorite student.

Back when everyone called him a brilliant young surgeon.

Back when Sophia had not yet lost her legs saving him.

Back when he had endless energy.

Back when life felt simple.

Emily represented his most glorious and carefree years.

Whenever he was with her, it felt as if he could return to that past.

Eventually, Sophia discovered that he and Emily were together.

She tried to kill Emily.

All the exhaustion and resentment he had buried finally exploded.

He said:

“If I’d known you’d kill her, I would have rather you never saved me.”

“I should have died in that crash.”

Then he walked into the fire.

When Alexander woke from the dream, he finally understood why Sophia had broken up with him.

She wasn’t jealous.

She wasn’t angry.

She had simply lived through his betrayal once already.

She no longer loved him.

And he finally understood that everything he had suffered was his own fault.

Alexander locked himself inside his apartment.

He stopped eating.

He stopped sleeping.

Three days later, his childhood friend forced the door open.

He stared at Alexander’s pale, exhausted face.

“Alexander!”

“You got fooled by one woman. Are you seriously going to destroy yourself over her?”

His friend only knew that Alexander had fallen apart after Emily’s crimes were exposed.

He assumed Emily was the woman Alexander was grieving.

Alexander stared blankly out the window.

“Sophia broke up with me.”

“She left. She doesn’t want me anymore.”

He covered his eyes.

“I don’t even have the right to chase her now.”

His friend froze.

But seeing him like this, he sighed.

“You’re disabled now, but the Blackwood family is worth billions.”

“Half the women in this country would still want to marry you.”

“And if two people truly love each other, this won’t matter.

“She loved you so much.”

“Once you apologize and explain everything, she’ll forgive you.”

A faint hope appeared in Alexander’s empty eyes.

Then he remembered the past.

Could Sophia really forgive him?
