Reborn to Marry the Right Mafia Brother Chapter 09

Reborn to Marry the Right Mafia Brother Chapter 09

The cold, ruthless Mafia Don I remember, a man who seems more like an iceberg than a human being, actually thinks things like that?

I force down my emotions and shake my head.

“Nothing.”

After the gala, Lucien takes me back to the Falcone Family townhouse.

The moment we step into the living room, I see Dante and Simone sitting there, waiting for us.

Simone immediately gets to her feet, a warm smile on her face.

“Brother, Sister-in-law, perfect timing. Dante and I prepared dinner. Come eat with us.”

Dante’s eyes openly linger on my chest before he finally smiles.

Damn.

Their intentions couldn’t be more obvious.

I’m starting to wonder how the hell Lucien ever fell for a cheap trick like this in my previous life.

The dining table is covered with steaks, pasta, and all kinds of exquisite dishes. Everything looks just like an ordinary family dinner.

But I don’t dare touch a single thing.

Under the table, I quietly take Lucien’s hand and give it a gentle squeeze, signaling him not to eat.

The next second, he simply picks up a large piece of beef with his fork and puts it into his mouth.

I freeze.

Lucien even takes his time before giving his verdict.

“Not bad.”

He looks at everyone else.

“Everyone, eat.”

The moment he says it, unmistakable delight flashes across Simone and Dante’s eyes.

I desperately squeeze Lucien’s hand again and again.

Yet he acts as though he doesn’t feel a thing.

I already told him Dante is trying to kill him.

Why the hell is he still eating?

The thought has barely crossed my mind when Lucien suddenly sways.

The next second, Simone collapses face-first onto the table too.

“Lucien!”

I have just gotten to my feet when Madre Audrey comes down from upstairs with several family

guards.

Her expression is frighteningly dark.

“Take those two downstairs.”

Her cane strikes the floor with a heavy thud.

“The underground cells. No one lets them out without my permission.”

Before Dante and Simone can even react, the guards seize them.

Lucien slowly straightens in his chair and turns toward me.

“Annette.”

The corner of his lips lifts slightly.

“I’m not as stupid as you think.”

I stare at him.

*Lucien explains quietly, “I told Madre a long time ago to increase security and surveillance around

the townhouse.”

“We saw Dante tampering with the drinks.”

“The staff switched them out.”

He glances at Dante and Simone as they are dragged away.

“As for what they drank, it was only sleeping pills.”

Only then do I finally let out the breath I’ve been holding.

But Lucien suddenly lowers his voice.

“However…”

He leans closer.

“You were so afraid I was going to die just now. Don’t tell me you’re falling for me.’

My heart skips a beat for no reason.

“No.”

I deny it immediately.

“I was just afraid that if you died, I’d have no one to rely on.”

Lucien looks at me, his smile deepening.

“Is that so?”

After Dante and Simone are taken to the underground cells, I finally breathe a sigh of relief.

The two people who frighten me most in my previous life are temporarily dealt with.

And I have already made enough money.

There is only one thing left.

Divorce Lucien.

I have been looking for the right opportunity.

But Lucien has been busier and busier lately, often staying out all night. He is clearly dealing with the forces Dante left behind and the problems within the Family.

All I can do is wait for now.

Until one day, a servant tells me that Dante and Simone have been asking to see me.

I decide to see Simone first.

The underground cells are still cold and damp.

Simone sits behind the iron bars, her hair messy and her body noticeably thinner. The carefully maintained dignity she once clung to is completely gone.

The moment she sees me, she rushes to the cell door.

“How did you know?”

“How did you know I was planning to kill you?”

She stares at me, the madness in her eyes growing more intense by the second.

Then she suddenly freezes.

“Wait.”

“I know.”

Her pupils contract sharply.

“You came back too.”

I smile.

“Simone, you’re only figuring that out now?”

Her face twists instantly.

“Bitch! You’ve been pretending this whole time?”

She grips the iron bars, looking like she wants to tear through them and attack me.

“You knew Dante was a psychopath all along, didn’t you?”

“So you just stood there and watched me marry him? You watched me walk straight into that hell?”

“Annette, how could you be so cruel?”

“The cruel one isn’t me.”

I stand outside the cell, looking at her coldly.

Her face looks somewhat like mine.

But in my previous life, this is the same person who drives her car straight into me and drags me to

death with her.

If I hadn’t been able to hear thoughts in this life, I might still be the one lying dead right now.

“Dante was your choice.”

“Lucien was the one you rejected.”

“No matter what you choose, you’re never satisfied. So in the end, you blame me for everything that goes wrong in your life.”

Simone glares at me.

I continue.

“You never think about changing yourself. You only think about finding a man who can solve every problem in your life for you.”

And I only know one thing. Relying on anyone else will never be as good as relying on myself.”

She suddenly screams out of control.

“But why?”

“Why is it that no matter who you’re with, you always end up living so well?”

I look at her and stay silent for a second.

“Because you only see the part where I’m doing well.”

“You never see everything I have to do just to survive.”

In this life, I learn how to do business, how to protect myself, and how to stand firmly within the

rules of the Falcone Family.

None of it is something anyone simply hands to me.

“Everything I have now, I fought for myself.”

“And you refuse to do anything. You just sit around waiting for someone else to save you.”

I look at her pale, twisted face.

“That’s why you ended up like this.”

With that, I turn and walk away.

Simone’s furious screams quickly follow me from behind.

“Annette!”

“Just you wait!”

“Next time, I swear I won’t lose to you again!”
