“Yeah, the S-tier honor student who just gave that speech!”

“Why is she on the ground?!”

“My god, are those the pack members she was talking about?”

“The ones who treated her like trash?”

“Look–it’s the twin!”

“What the hell? Did he just hit her?! That’s insane!”

Whispers rippled through the crowd, a stench of shock and disgust spreading through the air.

I raised my head, tilting it at the perfect angle–letting them see my swollen cheek and the claw marks

dripping blood down my face.

Then I fell to my knees, grabbing Dad’s pant leg.

“Father, please! Don’t let my sister replace me. I’m begging you!”

“I worked so hard for this. Please, just let me stay in school!”

“I don’t need anything from you. Just please don’t take everything from me again!”

Dad growled under his breath, “What the hell are you doing?! Get up!”

But my words had already hit the crowd like a surprise strike.

“Hey! Are you serious?! What kind of pack parents try to swap out a twin sister for another daughter?! That’s

sick!”

“You can’t just steal someone’s future! Is this the Dark Ages?!”

“Right?! That twin only scored a D! If she came here, we’d beat her into the ground on day one!”

The raw disgust and malice made their faces turn pale.

Rafe grabbed my arm, yanking me up by force. “Audra! Get up right now! What the hell game are you

playing?!”

I looked past him, spotting academy guards and professors rushing over with grim expressions.

I smiled. “Rafe, I told you–nobody steals my life.”

He froze.

My mentor Nessa arrived. Hearing the commotion, her aura flared like a silver wolf–eyes blazing with fire.

“What pack do you think you are?!”

“Replace her? You think just any wolf can replace an S-rank talent? Are you out of your mind?!”

“Even if you forced her in, she wouldn’t last a week. Before the first full moon, we’d kick her out for failing.”

Maisie’s eyes widened.

She had been treated like royalty her entire life. No wolf had ever spoken to her like this.

“You’re a professor! How can you speak to me like that?!”

Nessa didn’t flinch. “A teacher’s job is to educate. But when a wolf is already this delusional? They need

specialized help.”

The surrounding students burst into laughter.

Nessa stepped in front of me, her silver-white hair gleaming in the sunlight.

My eyes welled up.

This was the first time in my life another wolf had protected me.

And I had only known her for two days.

Maisie looked like she was about to collapse, completely forgetting to keep crying.

Mom, Dad, and Rafe stood frozen like statues, trembling under the public humiliation.

I knew the timing was right.

I took a deep breath and stepped forward.

“I meant what I said earlier. We’re done. Don’t ever contact me again.”

“You won’t steal my future.”

In the end, the Wolfcrest Academy guards escorted the four of them out.

The school issued a statement, permanently banning them from campus grounds.

Nessa squeezed my shoulder. “Good girl. You’re safe now.”

I threw my arms around her. “Thank you. Truly.”

Once, I had craved a mother’s hug.

Now, maybe I finally had one.

Back in my dorm, my phone wouldn’t stop buzzing.

Rafe: [Audra, let’s talk, please.]

Maisie: [Audra! You bitch, how could you do this to me?!]

Mom: [Sweetheart, do you really not need Mom anymore?]

Dad: [Audra, you’ve really grown a spine, haven’t you?]

I didn’t reply to any of them.

I blocked and deleted every single contact, one by one, like wiping away rotting bacteria.

Meanwhile, back at the Pinehollow Pack.

The four of them had barely stepped through the front door when they found a group of elders waiting for

them.
