My Cutesy Sister Stole My Husband, So I Exposed Her Darkest Secret Chapter 04

Mom practically shoved Tess right in front of Martha.

“Elaine has no shame, and we’re disowning her from the Brooks family this instant.”

“But our Tess is beautiful, pure, and sweet—she’s perfect for your Jasper.”

Dad nodded eagerly, currying favor.

“Exactly! The betrothal gifts are already given, the banquet’s already hosted. It’d be such a waste to throw it all away.”

Of course.

This was their true plan all along.

The family I’d cherished my whole life was willing to drag me through the mud just so Tess could take my place and marry my fiancé.

Thrust into everyone’s spotlight, Tess dropped her tearful act at once.

She blinked her big watery eyes, pointed shyly to herself, and feigned confusion.

“Huh?”

“Am I supposed to marry Jasper?”

She frowned like she was conflicted, then looked up at Jasper with a shy, bashful gaze.

“But… will Jasper like someone as curious as me?”

Jasper glanced at me, then at Tess.

“I like women who are pure and untouched.”

“I could never love someone like your sister—a social butterfly with a tainted past.”

“Eight abortions later, she’s nothing but used goods. Marrying her would make the whole of New York laugh at me.”

“You’re different. You’re pure as white paper.”

With that, he cupped Tess’s chin and kissed her.

Cheers erupted across the banquet hall immediately.

“Perfect call! Swapping the bride is brilliant!”

“Smart resource recycling—nothing goes to waste!”

“Exactly! Just get new marriage documents and it’s all settled!”

“Men always want a blank page like Tess. No one wants a worn-out newspaper like Elaine.”

Hearing all this, Martha’s stern face finally broke into a satisfied smile. “Very well. We’ll go with your suggestion—swap the bride.”

Applause echoed through the room.

Everyone thought it was the most brilliant decision possible.

No one cared about my humiliation, no one cared about my ruined reputation.

“Wonderful. Simply wonderful.” I let out a cold laugh, grabbed the microphone, clapped slowly, and walked up onto the wedding stage.

“What do you think you’re doing?”

“Are you here to cause more trouble?”

“The decision’s already made. Get out of here, you shameless whore!” Martha shouted, jabbing a finger at me.

I ignored her completely, pointing straight at Tess, who was now snuggled safely in Jasper’s arms. “You and your son are so sure she’s pure white paper?”

Jasper and Martha exchanged a confused look, neither understanding what I meant.

Only Tess trembled visibly in Jasper’s hold, stammering. “I have no idea what Sister’s talking about.”

“You will soon enough.”

I pulled out my phone and made a call.

Three minutes later, the banquet doors burst open.

“Tess Brooks, you little bitch—get out here now!”

Every guest turned toward the entrance at once.

Tess’s face drained of all color, turning deathly pale.

Standing in the doorway was a tall, sharply dressed man flanked by more than a dozen uniformed bodyguards.

Anyone with status in New York knew exactly who he was.

This was Seth Shawn—everyone in the underworld called him Mr. Shawn.

The Shawn family controlled sixty percent of New York’s energy industry. Families like the Hales lived entirely off their goodwill and patronage.

Jasper never expected someone of Seth Shawn’s caliber to show up at his wedding.

He hurried over with a nervous smile to greet him. “Mr. Shawn! What an honor—please, come take a seat!”

Instead of greeting him, Seth grabbed Jasper hard by the collar, his voice deadly cold. “Cut the pleasantries. Tell me—who are you marrying today?”

Jasper glanced back at me, too ashamed to admit the truth, and answered quickly. “The younger Brooks daughter, Tess Brooks.”

Slap!

Seth landed a brutal slap straight across Jasper’s face. “You’ve got a death wish, don’t you?”

He let go of Jasper’s collar in one rough tug.

Jasper stumbled backward, crashing into a dining table behind him. Food and soup spilled all over his suit.

Right after that, a bald man was escorted into the hall.

Seth slung an arm over the man’s shoulder.

“Go on. Tell everyone here who Tess Brooks really is.”

The bald man looked aggrieved as he spoke up. “She’s my girlfriend! She scammed me out of my money and ran off. I only found out recently she changed her name to Tess Brooks!”
