My Cutesy Sister Stole My Husband, So I Exposed Her Darkest Secret Chapter 02

Her words sent the entire banquet hall into an uproar.

Hundreds of guests at nearly every table began whispering among themselves.

Some even pointed fingers at me outright, right to my face.

“Oh my god, the eldest Brooks daughter is actually like this?”

“Eight abortions… can she even have kids anymore?”

“So Mr. Hale’s marrying a used-up woman?”

Every cutting word stabbed straight into Martha’s ears.

Her face stayed dark as storm clouds, her sharp gaze piercing right through me. “You’d better explain yourself this instant!”

Even Jasper beside me rushed forward in one stride, his eyes bloodshot as he stared me down coldly. “Elaine, is what your sister saying true?”

I was about to speak when Tess cut me off first, waving her hands feebly. “Eep… Jasper, please don’t fight with Elaine over this. It’s my fault, I said the wrong thing. It’s not true—none of what I said is true.”

She sounded like she was defending me, but her words only made things worse.

Slap!

Martha shot to her feet in a rage and slapped me hard across the face.

“Everyone knows how the Brooks sisters are— the eldest flirts with every man she meets, while the youngest is sweet and naive.”

“Elaine Brooks, you’ve humiliated the Hale family today. If you don’t give my son a proper explanation, I’ll press charges for marriage fraud at the police station!”

I held my stinging cheek and looked coldly at Jasper. “Do you believe her too?”

Jasper froze for a second, his lips trembling. After a long pause, he ground the words out through gritted teeth. “Tess is pure-hearted. She doesn’t lie.”

Hearing that, Tess snuggled even deeper into Mom’s arms.

Everyone thought she was scared, but I knew better—she was hiding a smirk.

Laugh while you can. You won’t be smiling much longer.

I marched over to Mom, grabbed the pretending-to-be-harmless Tess, and pulled her out of Mom’s embrace. “You’re going to tell everyone exactly what happened. When did you go to the hospital with me? When did you hear a doctor say I’ve had eight abortions?”

Tess’s eyes turned red the second I grabbed her arm.

Like she’d finally mustered up the courage, she yanked her arm free from my grip.

“Fine. I don’t want to lie anymore. If Elaine wants me to say it, I’ll say it.”

“On the twentieth of last month, Elaine lied and said she had to go to work instead of coming to my birthday party.”

“I was curious how busy Elaine really was, so I secretly followed her. And that’s when I found out she was going to the hospital.”

“I even took a video to show Dad and tattle on her!”

With that, she pulled out her phone and played the hidden camera footage she’d taken while tailing me.

In the video, I was in disguise, walking straight into the obstetrics and gynecology clinic.

I looked constantly on guard, clearly terrified of being recognized.

“Can Elaine deny that’s her in the video?” Tess asked, staring at me with unshakable certainty once the video ended.

Dozens of pairs of eyes locked onto me, every gaze filled with unspoken judgment, waiting to see how I’d defend myself.

Jasper held his breath too, waiting for my answer.

I took a deep breath and admitted calmly. “It’s me.”

Just three simple words dropped like cold water into boiling oil.

“You bitch!” Jasper snarled, pointing right at me.

“Disgusting trash! Jasper, let’s go!” Martha grabbed Jasper’s wrist and prepared to storm out.

I stood behind them and spoke in a calm, indifferent tone. “Aren’t you curious what I was doing there?”
