My CEO’s Wife Canceled My Flight Then Lost Everything Chapter 05

The main conference room felt frozen.

Vanessa started crying before anyone else could speak.

“Richard, you can’t just listen to her side.”

“Claire has always had inappropriate feelings for Grant. I’m his wife. All I did was tell her to maintain professional boundaries.”

“She resented me for it. So she intentionally skipped the meeting, sabotaged the project, and now she’s trying

to blame me.”

She knew exactly how to make herself look wounded.

If I hadn’t already died once because of her, I might have believed her.

Richard ignored her.

He looked at me.

“Go ahead, Claire.”

I connected my phone to the conference room audio system.

The first recording came from the airport counter.

“Your ticket and Mr. Whitmore’s ticket were canceled by corporate contact Vanessa Whitmore.”

The second was the airline representative.

“There are no remaining flights on this route that will arrive in time. The earliest available arrival is 11:20

a.m.”

The third recording came from the executive suite.

My own voice was clear.

“Give me the authorization letter. The EVP can still make it to Riverton.”

Then Vanessa’s laugh.

“So what if it’s a billion dollars? My husband can land one billion-dollar deal, he can land another.”

The roar of the shredder followed.

At the same time, I projected photos of the ruined authorization letter onto the screen.

Someone at the table muttered a curse.

Vanessa’s face began to lose color.

Then I played the video from the print room.

On screen, she stood on the proposal.

Then she tore it apart page by page.

Her voice was sharp and unmistakable.

“Let’s see how much of a savior you are without your precious paperwork.”

“Learn how to behave before you try being an executive assistant.”

Richard turned toward Grant.

“This is your wife?”

Grant pressed his lips together.

I opened the screenshots from the company chat.

Homewrecker.

Trying to seduce the boss.

Liability.

Every insult appeared on the screen.

Several people lowered their heads.

Others refused to look at me.

I kept going.

“Before nine this morning, I contacted the airport, the airline, rail services, ground transportation, Bluewater’s

event team, the EVP’s office, and Security.”

“Every response and every call record is here.”

“I followed every option available to me.”

“Every route I could take, Vanessa shut down.”

Richard turned toward Administration.

“Diane. You were in the print room?”

Diane sat in the corner.

All the color had drained from her face.

Vanessa immediately stared at her.

“Diane, think about your daughter before you answer.”

Diane’s hands trembled.

I didn’t rush her.

Last time, she had stayed silent.

This time, after nearly fifteen seconds, she stood.

“I was there.”

She spoke softly.

But the room heard every word.

“Vanessa destroyed the authorization letter. Vanessa tore up the proposal. And she instructed Administration to post the screenshot in the company chat.”

“Claire spent the entire morning trying to fix the situation. She did not abandon the project.”

Vanessa shrieked.

“Diane! You’re betraying me?”

Diane looked at her with red eyes.

“I’m telling the truth.”

Richard slammed a hand onto the table.

“Grant, explain this.”

Grant’s face had gone rigid.

Several seconds passed.

Finally, he spoke.

“This was a failure of oversight on my part.”

He looked at Vanessa.

His voice had turned cold.

“Vanessa acted independently and let a personal dispute interfere with company business. The board can strip her of all company authority, effective immediately.”

Vanessa stared at him.

“Grant, what does that mean?”

He didn’t look back.

“You made your choices. Deal with the consequences.”

She collapsed into a chair.

The fight went out of her all at once.

“I did this for you.”

“I was protecting you…”

No one answered.

Then the second phone sitting beside Grant buzzed.

The screen lit up.

A new message from Sabrina Cole.

Sabrina: [Thanks for coming to the prenatal appointment with me this morning. The doctor says the baby is perfectly healthy. Are you still coming over tonight?]

Vanessa stared at the message.

Her eyes widened.

She snatched up the phone and hurled it at Grant.

“So that’s where you were this morning?”

“You were at a prenatal appointment with her?”
