My Husband Tried to Give His Fortune to His Secret Son, But He Forgot Our Prenup Chapter 07

“Mr. Hayes, the original was filed with the court this morning. What you’re holding is a copy. Tearing it up

won’t change anything.”

Skyler’s hand froze in midair.

Only then did Madeline understand what was happening. She rushed to his bedside, grabbed his arm, and

tears spilled rapidly down her face.

“Skyler, what does this mean? You said the company was yours. You said you had billions in assets!”

“Shut up!” Skyler shoved her away, the veins in his forehead bulging.

Lucas stood nearby, his face ashen as he stared at me, his voice tight.

“Ms. Carter, my father devoted thirty years of his life to this company. What you’re doing is too cruel.”

I looked at him.

At twenty-seven, he wore a tailored suit and a limited-edition watch. Everything on him, from head to toe, had been paid for with Carter family money.

“Cruel? Lucas, do you have any idea how much the Carter family spent on you from kindergarten all the way

to the Ivy League?”

“Your tuition. Your move overseas. Your mother’s $1.6 million condo. And the money your father spent

getting you into an Ivy League school.

“Then you came back and were handed a senior executive position with a $200,000 salary.”

“Whose money was that?”

Lucas’s lips moved, but he couldn’t answer.

“Good. Very good.” Skyler was breathing heavily when he suddenly gave a bitter laugh.

“Vivian, even if I don’t personally own any assets, I’m still the one running this company. When I’m gone,

someone has to take over. Who else could it be besides Lucas?”

“Wendy? What did she even study? Does she know anything about running a company? She hasn’t even set foot inside the company all these years!”

I looked at him and slowly smiled. “Skyler, you thought my daughter had been wasting her time all these years?”

He froze.

“Wendy graduated from one of the country’s top universities after completing a combined bachelor’s and

master’s program in clean energy and business management. After graduation, she built her own team.”

“At the last shareholders’ meeting, didn’t you slam your fist on the table and rant about some clean-energy

company taking our business? Guess who owns that company?”

Skyler’s pupils contracted sharply.
