My Mate Killed Me For My Sister, I Became Luna Of His Enemy Chapter 20

My Mate Killed Me For My Sister, I Became Luna Of His Enemy Chapter 20 The End

Bella’s POV

I woke at dawn and lay in my bed for one full minute before I opened my eyes.

The mattress was firm. The sheets smelled like cedar and fresh laundry. The cleaning staff had stripped the room completely. They replaced everything, and scrubbed the walls and floors and windows. Nothing of Silas’s scent remained.

I opened my eyes and looked at the ceiling. Caleb had sent men to replace the old, cracked beams. The new beams were glorious.

Sunlight poured through the east-facing windows. Outside, I heard the sounds of a pack waking up. Voices. Laughter. The distant bark of a wolf in the training yard.

It was my pack. The thought still felt new. My pack. But it was settling in.

I stood and walked to the mirror.

The woman who looked back was someone I was still learning to recognize.

The Viscusos had left no permanent marks. It was as though I’d never been sick at all. My skin was clear. My eyes were bright. I looked strong and healthy.

“Come back to bed.” Caleb sat up and motioned for me. I chuckled.

“Today’s my crowning,” I told him. “I have a hundred things to do.”

“Fine,” he rolled his eyes. “Have your day. I can wait.”

I dressed while Caleb went to shower. My dress was a deep silver-white, the color of the Moon Goddess herself.

It had arrived last night, sent straight over from a seamstress from the Thorn Cliff pack. The gown fit perfectly. It was simple, with nothing excessive. But it moved like water when I walked.

I braided my hair with silver thread. I didn’t wear any jewelry except one piece: a

pendant. It was a small carved wolf howling at the moon, suspended on a thin silver chain. Caleb had given it to me the day I defeated Silas. He’d pressed it into my palm and said:

“For the road ahead.”

I left my bedroom while he was still in the shower. The corridors were quiet. the pack was already gathering in the Great Hall. The wolves I passed in the hallways bowed their heads as I approached.

Their was a buzz of excitement in the air. It wasn’t every day a female alpha was crowned. It was going to be a long, joyous day. And I was ready to soak in every moment of it.

Later that day, I stood in front of the elders. The head elder held the Alpha’s crown in his hand. Our entire pack was gathered in the hall. First came the ceremony, in the hall. Then the celebration outside. It was planned to run well into the next morning.

The alpha’s crown was stunning. It was made of twisted iron, with simple jewels set into the iron. The iron was dark. Tradition said the jewels been blessed by the Moon Goddess herself. I don’t if I believed that. But it was gorgeous, nonetheless.

As the elders placed the crown on my head, I thought about the woman I’d been and the woman I’d become.

It was hard to believe that the woman who’d cowered in the dungeon was the same woman standing there, about to be crowned Alpha of the Howling Moon Pack.

I’d been so sure I was going to die. Those dark days felt miles away from me now. Both Madison and Silas were gone. And if I ever saw either of them again, it would be too soon.

Sometimes I had to pinch myself. It all felt like a dream.

The elders asked me if I swore to protect the pack. I told them I did.

“Do you swear to lead with strength and wisdom?” they asked.

I nodded.

“Do you swear to honor the Moon Goddess in all that you do?”

Again, I nodded.

Then they set the heavy crown onto my head.

“Let it be known,” the head elder said, “that by the power vested in the council, our new Alpha has been crowned. All hail Alpha Bella.”

The hall erupted.

Caleb stepped forward and took my hand. He led me through the throngs of cheering people. They flew flowers at me as I walked by. We made our way outside, to where the party area had already been set up.

“Come on,” he said, leading the way.

“Where are we going?” I giggled as we ran down the path.

“I want to show you something,” he told me.”

“But the party,” I said. “My people are waiting. They want to…”

“We won’t be long,” he winked at me.

He led me into the treeline. Just a little ways into the forest. Then we stopped. I had no idea what we were doing. He pointed at the thick trunk of an ancient oak

tree.

That’s when I saw it.

Our names, carved into the tree, wrapped in a heart.

“Did you do this?” I asked. He nodded.

“I know it’s cheesy. But there’s one on a tree at my pack too. This way, we both

have one.”

I smiled. “It’s not cheesy,” I told him. “It’s sweet.”

Then he leaned in and kissed me. My heart flooded with love as the bond between us pulsed. This was love. This was real love. And there was nothing in the world sweeter.

“I plan on making you smile like that every day for the rest of your life, Alpha Bella,” he said.

“I plan on holding you to that promise, Alpha Caleb,” I teased.

“So,” he said, as we made our way back. “You’re crowned now. How does it feel?”

We approached the party area. Members of the pack were laughing. Wolf pups were playing. Everyone was happy.

“It feels good,” I told him. “It feels really, really good.”

As I gazed at the pack, my pack, my heart swelled with love.

I had been the unloved twin, the discarded mate, the girl tossed in a dungeon. But I was now the Alpha of the Howling Moon Pack.

And I was, at last, adored.

The End
