My Mate Killed Me For My Sister, I Became Luna Of His Enemy Chapter 03

My Mate Killed Me For My Sister, I Became Luna Of His Enemy Chapter 03 Madison’s Confession
Bella’s POV I didn’t tell Silas that I signed the contract. That night was the Summer Solstice banquet. I was going to tell him then. The Great Hall was packed when I arrived. The Summer Solstice was one of our pack’s biggest celebrations. The scent of roasted meat and red wine hit me. Everyone was here, laughing and drinking. Pups chased each other under the tables. I’d made an effort to look my best. Even though my stomach was sick from the Viscusos. My dress was deep green, with a modest neckline. I’d braided my hair and pinned it up. That’s how Silas liked it. At least, that’s how he liked it on Madison. Silas was at the head table, sitting on the Alpha’s chair. His hair was combed back, his jaw freshly shaved. Madison sat to his right. She was wearing a red silk dress. Low cut in the front. On anyone else, the dress would be slutty. But on her, it was demure. My mother sat to her right, my father to the left. There was no seat for me at the head table. There never was. “Bella,” Madison smiled as I approached. “Nice dress. Is it a hand-me-down from one of our cousins?” Her tone was cutting. “No,” I said. “I had it made.” “Huh.” She cocked her head to the side. “But who? An apprentice?” My cheeks burned crimson. She was insulting me and everyone knew it. “Madison dear, that’s not nice,” my mother mock-scolded. “Shoo,” Madison said, waving her hand in the air. “You’re blocking my view.” I sat alone at the end of the table. But my eyes kept flitting to Madison and Silas. He looked at Madison was so much tenderness and adoration. I wished he would look at me like that. Even just once. Halfway through the banquet, I got up to refill my water glass. But as I walked towards the pitcher, Madison’s foot shot out. My ankle caught on her foot. I lost my balance and lurched forward. I collided with a servant. The tray he was carrying went flying through the air. “Ahhhh,” I cried out. Then… Thud. I landed on my hands and knees in a puddle of wine. The broken glass cut my palms. My green dress was soaked through. Wine ran down my face and dripped off my chin. Someone laughed. Then someone else. Then the hall was full of their taunting laughter. “You’re so clumsy!” Madison scolded. “Bella, look what you’ve done. You splashed wine on my wrist.” She dabbed at her wrist with a napkin. No one even bothered to help me up. They were all fussing over Madison and the tiny drop of wine on her wrist. I got to my feet on my own. Wine dripped from my hair onto my ruined dress. My palms were bleeding. The server apologized, gathering shards of glass. “You tripped me,” I said to Madison. “Stop it?” Silas hissed. “You’re embarrassing yourself.” “She did though,” I said. My lips quivered. My eyes stung with tears. My dress was ruined. I was humiliated in front of the entire pack. “She tripped me on purpose. The hall fell silent. Madison shook her head. Then she chuckled. “I did no such thing.” Madison feigned innocence. “You did. You…” “All right,” Madison said then, cutting me off. “I need to say something.” She pressed a hand to her chest. “I’ve been carrying around a secret for a long time now. It’s eating away at me. I have to confess. I can’t stay silent anymore.” All eyes landed on Madison. A cold sensation ran down my spine. “I was going to wait until after the banquet. But since Bella is insistent on making a scene…” She rose from her chair. “There’s something you all should know.” Madison inhaled a sharp breath. Then she bit her lip. “Bella poisoned my wolf.” The moment the words landed, people gasped, their faces stunned. “What do you mean Bella poisoned your wolf?” Silas asked. “Bella gave me a toxin. Eight years ago. She mixed it in with my evening tea. It was a very potent wolf suppressant. That’s why my wolf has been in a coma. That’s why I’ve been suffering.” Madison was crying now. I had to hand it to her, she was quite the actress. “I only just learned the truth. A maid told me. She saw Madison mix the toxin into the tea. And when I looked in Bella’s bedroom, I found this.” She produced a document. She held it up for the room to see. It was a receipt from a witch. A receipt for a toxin. And sure enough, at the bottom, was my signature. “This is proof,” Madison said. Silas snatched the document from her hand. “It’s a forgery!” The words ripped from my mouth. I stepped forward, wine-soaked and shaking. Broken glass crunched under my shoes. “I never signed that. I have never…” “You see?” Madison turned to Silas. “Lies. All lies. She’s jealous of me. She hurt my wolf.” The hall erupted. Accusations. Disbelief. Fury. Pack members were on their feet. An elder was shouting for order. My mother had her hand over her mouth, staring at me with wide, horrified eyes. My father wouldn’t even look at me. It was chaos. “Silas.” I pushed through the noise. “Silas please. Look at me. You know I wouldn’t do this. I…” When he finally looked at me, it was with disgust. He didn’t defend me. Madison was crying against his chest. He wrapped his arm around her. His voice came out as a low growl. “How could you, Bella?” He lifted his hand, motioning for the guards. Two of them came, strong and fast. They grabbed my elbows. No no no no. “Silas!” I screamed his name. “She’s lying! I never signed that contract. Please, Silas. Don’t do this.” There was so much hatred in his eyes. “I’m ashamed to be your mate,” he snarled. Then he turned to the guards. “Toss her in the dungeon.”
