Not Enough Support From My Husband His Best Friend Stepped In Chapter 10

“Olive!”

I’d just walked into the airport when someone chased after me.

I turned to find Caden, suitcase in hand.

“What are you…” I stared at him, confused.

He shrugged and smiled. “Leaving with you.”

“But aren’t you Bryson’s best friend?”

“Not anymore.” Caden met my gaze gently. “I cut him off. A man this blind and spineless doesn’t deserve to be my friend.”

“Olive, I’m so sorry I couldn’t help with what happened to your baby.”

“If you’ll let me, I want to take care of you for the rest of your life.”

I appreciated his kindness, yet I turned him down. “I just lost my baby. I’m not ready for another relationship

right now. I’m sorry.”

Caden didn’t seem upset or hurt by my rejection. He simply walked beside me.

“It’s fine. I can wait. I’ll stay by your side as a friend and help you, until you’re ready.”

So we left the city together.

Back in the basement, Bryson watched coldly as the bodyguards brutalized Elsie.

Blood pooled beneath her. She clutched her stomach, begging.

“Mr. Carter… it wasn’t me! I didn’t kill your baby. I was only giving her a bath. How could she die from that?

Olive must’ve hurt her own child and framed me!”

Bryson smiled faintly. “You’re saying my wife killed her own child to frame a secretary?”

Elsie, running on nothing but survival instinct, nodded frantically.

“Why wouldn’t that be possible? Have you forgotten? She’s nothing but a gold digger. That kind of woman is

capable of anything!”

The word “gold digger” made his pupils contract.

He crouched down, meeting the bloodied Elsie’s gaze on the floor, and brushed his hand over her face. “Say

that again.”

Elsie thought he was softening. “She’s a gold digger! She only married you for your money. You really

thought she loved you?”

“A woman from some backwater family like her is happy with a few hundred bucks. Tens of thousands and

she’d be beside herself! What decent child could she possibly -”

She never got to finish her sentence. Bryson slapped her hard across the face.

The blow was brutal. Elsie’s head snapped to the side, half her face swelling up instantly.

Clutching her stinging cheek, Elsie let out a bitter sneer.

“What’s the point of hitting me, Bryson? Your child is already dead. Beating me to death won’t change anything. Can you bring your baby back?”

He stood up, looking down at her. “You know why I brought you here?”

Her smile froze on her face.

She scrambled backward until her back hit the wall, voice trembling. “Bryson, calm down…”

“An eye for an eye.” Bryson’s tone was icy and unyielding. “You’re pregnant too, right? You killed my baby. Now you’ll pay with yours.”

Even after Elsie miscarried, Bryson still wasn’t done with her.

“You abused your position to torment my wife and hurt my child. I’m going to make you pay for every single thing you’ve done.”

Bryson called the police and had every last one of her corrupt acts from these past months fully exposed.
