Not His Bride Anymore Chapter 13

Not His Bride Anymore Chapter 13

A month after Callan arrived, I got a call from Celeste.

It had been a month since we’d spoken. Her voice was exhausted.

But the demands hadn’t changed.

“Eden. Give Callan back to me!”

I was cleaning out my laptop files when she called.

One photo stopped me. Celeste and me. Two young girls. Faces turned away from each other. Like we couldn’t stand the sight.

That was how we met.

Back then, our hatred was as honest as our love.

She hated my aloofness. I hated her rich-girl attitude.

Then someone framed me for stealing. She was the one who stood in front

of me. Defended me.

That was the moment we became friends.

But the person who stands up for you when you’re young can also step on

you for their own gain when they’re grown.

Friendship. Love. When it rots, it rots.

I clicked delete.

I spoke calmly.

“First. I don’t owe you anything. There’s nothing to give back.”

“Second. Callan and I have been over for a long time. He’s the one harassing

me.”

“Third. If you’ve got the skills, come get him yourself. You actually manage that, I’ll be the one thanking you.”

“You-”

She tried to say more. I didn’t listen. I hung up.

A few days later, Callan appeared in front of me. Holding a ring.

The ring he’d spent six months designing. Flown to France. Begged a designer for two weeks to make.

“I got it back.”

His voice was hoarse.

“I know what happened. At the care center that day.”

“I’m sorry. I really didn’t know Celeste was capable of that-”
