He Said I Was Overreacting, I Said I Was Over Him Chapter 09

Lily suddenly lunged at Zoe like a madwoman. “You! You homewrecker! You did this to my son on Purpose!”

Zoe’s hair was yanked loose as she screamed back, “Are you crazy? Your son can’t keep it in his pants! That’s not my problem!”

“He’s the one who said the relationship had gotten boring, but he couldn’t let go of Anna’s money. He’s just a gold-digging scumbag!”

Lucas slumped against the wall. He didn’t stop Lily, nor did he deny Zoe’s accusations.

I watched it all coldly, feeling nothing but disgust.

“Enough!”

My dad yanked Lucas up from the floor and pointed at the door. “Get out of here! Don’t ever come near her again!”

Lucas suddenly broke free from his grip and ran over to me, dropping to his knees.

“Anna, I was wrong! The first time it happened, Zoe said she was drunk and begged me to take her

home. I don’t even know how it happened…”

“But I regretted it right after. Zoe kept clinging to me, threatening to tell you everything if I tried to

cut her off.”

“I messed up. I didn’t know you were allergic to that pill. I just didn’t want to lose you.”

“Anna, forgive me. We can have another baby. Just give me one more chance, okay?”

My stomach lurched with disgust. I kicked him square in the chest. “Don’t touch me. You make me

sick.”

My dad tried to pull him away, but Lucas let out a desperate wail. “You said I owe you a life! Then I’ll give it back to you right now!”

I kicked the fruit knife under the sofa before he could grab it.

“Lucas, still trying to manipulate me with self-harm? That trick doesn’t work anymore.”

“Get out of my house now, or I’ll call the police.”

At that, Lily hesitated. She whispered to him, “Lucas, let’s leave. We’ll come back when Anna’s

calmed down.”

Lucas helped Lily out the door, he turned back to look at me. “Anna, I’ll change. I’ll win you

back.”

I didn’t answer. I just slammed the door shut.

From that day on, I blocked Lucas and Zoe completely.

Then I threw myself into work, handing over my projects while processing my relocation to France.

Lucas couldn’t reach me, so he started harassing our mutual friends.

At first, a few people were willing to pass along messages. But once they saw how firm I was, they gradually stopped getting involved.

He got more and more unhinged. He even showed up at my office building holding a sign.

[Anna, I was wrong. Please forgive me.]

Security tried to remove him, but he knelt stubbornly on the ground, refusing to leave and drawing

a crowd of onlookers.

The situation got messy. The VP called me in and told me to handle it before I left the company.

I walked out of his office fuming, and then a mutual friend messaged me.

“Anna, I’ve been thinking about this for days and I think you should know the truth.”

“I overheard Zoe and Lucas talking. They said if they wanted to stop you from leaving, they needed to sabotage your job so you can’t go to France.”

I clenched my phone and let out a cold laugh.

If they wanted to die, then I had no reason to go easy on them.

I sped up my handover and bought my ticket to France ahead of schedule.

The day before I left, I went to the hospital and made an appointment with the doctor who’d

performed my surgery.

After the check-up, I made my request. “Doctor, could I get a copy of my medical records and the

surgical report?”

The doctor paused. “Why do you want those? That was a painful time. It’s better to leave it in the

past.”

I smiled. “I need them to cut ties with the past.”

I walked out of the hospital with a thick stack of documents, squinting in the sunlight.

Lucas, didn’t you want to know what I really went through that day?

Didn’t you keep saying you were wrong and wanted to make it up to me?

Didn’t you want to ruin my career and stop me from going to France?

Fine. I’ll give you what you asked for.

I uploaded the medical records and the videos I’d recorded to my email, setting them for scheduled

delivery.

Lucas was in his office getting chewed out by his boss when the email arrived.

He’d been skipping work, distracted, and had messed up a major contract.

The boss slammed the file right in his face. “Lucas, can you do your job or not? If not, get out. This company doesn’t carry dead weight.”

When he walked out of the office, even he could tell something was off.

Zoe was pale, head down, rushing past him.

She threw out one line: “Check your email.”

He opened his inbox in confusion. When he saw the scanned medical records, he shot up so fast he.
