This Heiress Doesn’t Fight Anymore Chapter 01

This Heiress Doesn’t Fight Anymore Chapter 01

In high society, I was known as the true heiress who couldn’t be bothered.

Brielle Whitmore, the adopted daughter, threw a sobbing tantrum over my place in the family. I didn’t even look up. “Take it.”

My brother showed up on her behalf, demanding the mansion. I yawned. “Keys are on the table.”

Everyone called me a lost cause.

What they didn’t know was that in my last life, I’d burned myself to the ground trying to beat her. Every scheme and every sleepless night were all for a family that always took her side.

And it broke me. Completely. I finally collapsed at my desk.

The last thing I heard before everything went dark was my parents blaming me, saying that I’d driven my sister to a breaking point.

So when I woke up in this life again, I was done. I just wanted to lie down and let it all go.

Today, at the yacht party, Brielle pulled the same stunt. She dragged me into the chaos.

I watched my father, my brother, and my fiancé rush to the railing without a second’s pause, panic in their eyes as they looked for her.

This time, I didn’t even bother screaming.

I closed my eyes and stopped trying to make them understand.

The noise around me faded, and after that, I felt nothing.

Just cold. The kind that made everything feel distant.

Nearby, Brielle was still putting on her helpless act.

“Help! Bennett! Graham! I’m scared!”

Three of them rushed toward Brielle, one after another.

My father. My brother, Bennett Whitmore. And my fiancé, Graham Caldwell.

All three of them rushed straight toward Brielle.

The water was dark around me.

None of them looked back.

I watched them leave, and I couldn’t even summon the energy to care.

This exact day had played out before, in my last life.

Same stunt. Brielle pulling me into the chaos.

Back then, I’d fought desperately for his attention. “Graham, help me! I need you!”

And what did Graham do?

He pulled away from me. Looked at me like I was pathetic. “Maren, you’re a strong swimmer. Why are you making such a fuss? Brielle needs me.”

Then he was gone. Straight to her.

I made my way back onto the deck, completely exhausted.

After that, I made it my mission to prove them all wrong.

I swore I’d outshine Brielle and take back every piece of the Whitmore empire.

And where did that get me?

Weeks with barely any sleep. I finally collapsed at my desk.

The last voice I heard was Bennett’s, shouting through the phone.

[What is wrong with you, Maren? You’re not going to stop until Brielle’s got nothing left, are you? How did this family raise someone like you?]

When I opened my eyes, I was back. Same day. Same ocean.

A second chance I never asked for.

But this time, I had nothing left to prove.

I was so tired.

Everything cost more than it was worth.

I was running on empty. No fight. No spark. Nothing.

So I stopped trying to prove myself.

I folded my arms and didn’t make a sound.

I closed my eyes.

I stopped trying to make them believe me.

A moment later, someone rushed over.

Someone helped me back onto the deck.

Once I was back on the deck, I was completely exhausted.

It was one of the yacht’s deckhands.

He set me down on the deck, hovering. “Miss? Hey, are you okay?”

I waved him off. Talking felt like too much work.

So I lay right there on the deck and closed my eyes.

“Maren!”

A furious voice barked right above me.

I dragged my eyes open.

Graham stood over me, dripping wet, glaring down.

He was the kind of beautiful that made you forget he was cruel.

But right now, the only thing in his eyes was disgust.

“Are you done?”

His voice was low, but every word hit hard. “You’d cause all this chaos just to put on a show. Do you even hear how ridiculous that sounds?”

I said nothing.

All I could think was that his voice was giving me a headache.

A few feet away, Bennett was wrapping a towel around Brielle like she was made of glass.

He looked over at the sound of Graham’s voice.

He looked at me like I was a complete disgrace.

“What is wrong with you, Maren?”

Bennett’s jaw clenched. “She’s terrified of this kind of situation. You know that. And you still dragged her into it?”

“If she gets upset because of this, that’s on you. You hear me?”

My lips twitched. Not quite a smile.

Brielle had caused the whole mess herself and dragged me into it.

In my last life, I would’ve screamed myself hoarse explaining. I would’ve pulled the security footage, hunted down witnesses, begged them through tears to just believe me.

But now?

I was just sleepy.
