I Canceled My Wedding and Married Someone Else Chapter 04

A cold laugh slipped from my lips. “I bought this apartment. Are you telling me I need your permission to enter my own home? Who exactly do you think you are?”

“Tiffany, I’ve been more than good to you. I bankrolled your life, Tiffany. I was your safety net, not your rival. So why did you betray me?”

The girl who always acted as soft as a frightened rabbit suddenly twisted into something feral. Her face contorted, and she glared at me with naked hatred.

“You never treated me like a friend! You just wanted a servant following you around!” she screamed. “You’re rich, your boyfriend is rich, so what if you sponsored me a little?”

“Why do you get to be born into luxury, living a life others would kill for, while I was tired of living on your leftovers and smiling for the scraps.”

“Sierra, you should be thanking me. Without Josh, Carl never would’ve married you!”

A stunned laugh slipped out of me. I stared at her like she had lost her mind. “Thank you? You’re proud of being the other woman?”

Tiffany lifted her chin stubbornly.

“What’s shameful about securing a better life? If you really thought of me as your best friend, you should’ve disappeared forever and given Josh to me! Let me finally live like a rich woman!”

My palm connected with her cheek, the sound echoing like a gunshot in the empty room. My gaze hit her like winter wind, sharp, merciless.

“From this moment on, we’re not friends. We’re enemies.”

Another slap landed.

“That’s for being a homewrecker, stealing my man.”

I raised my hand again, but before it fell, Josh burst out of the bedroom like lightning. He grabbed my wrist, his tone cold as frost.

“Sierra, what the hell are you doing? You come home just to slap her? You should’ve stayed away!”

Tiffany collapsed into his arms, sobbing into his chest. My eyes flicked over the fresh scratches on his shirt and skin. A humorless smile tugged at my lips as I turned toward the bedroom.

Josh, flustered, quickly straightened his wrinkled shirt and hurried after me.

“I got drunk last night,” he explained fast. “Nothing happened between us. I swear. Sweetheart, I didn’t cheat on you.”

I opened the safe, dumped all my jewelry into my bag, then looked at the walk-in closet. The clothes, the handbags… who knew what Tiffany had touched?

Disgust rolled through my stomach. I called a resale service to come collect everything.

Josh blocked the doorway, irritation boiling over. “So you didn’t come back because you regretted anything or wanted to reconcile. You came back to collect… stuff?”

“Of course,” I said flatly. “Do you expect me to leave millions worth of things for you and your mistress?”

“Sierra!” Josh roared, raking a hand through his hair before lowering his tone again.

“Sweetheart, I’m not blaming you for ruining the wedding. Stop the tantrum, okay? I’ll arrange a new one.”

“Next week, we’ll have a perfect ceremony again. Come on, we’ll go get the marriage license today.”

I stared at him like he’d grown a second head. “Josh, are you delusional, or just desperate?? Did you forget I already accepted Carl’s proposal?”

Josh shook his head, exhaling sharply.

“Sweetheart, Carl isn’t marrying you. The entire New York business circle already knows the Howards are planning to ally with the richest family in the city. He lied to you.”

“I don’t care that you chose him that night,” Josh continued. “We’ll get the license today. Once we’re married, you won’t overthink things anymore.”

I shoved him away. “Even if that’s true, I still wouldn’t marry you. Josh, the apartment’s already listed for sale. You need to move out, now.”

I didn’t even make it past the neighborhood gate when Josh’s phone exploded with calls.

Annoyed, he picked up and snapped, “What?!”

“Josh, have you checked Twitter? Howard Group just pinned the official announcement, they’re forming a marital alliance with the Robinsons. Sierra is really marrying Carl!”
