I picked up the paper. The farther I read, the harder it became to contain my anger.

The terms were explicit. From that day forward, Chloe alone would control every part of Ryan’s

work and personal life.

Even after Claire married him, she was expected to remain a decorative wife who stayed quietly out

of the way.

She couldn’t question Ryan’s schedule, interfere in his social life, or involve herself in any

arrangement concerning Chloe.

This wasn’t a prenuptial agreement. It gave Chloe all the control, while Ryan’s future wife would

have nothing but the title.

She stood opposite me with her arms folded, unable to hide her satisfaction.

When I finished reading, she leaned closer and spoke in a hard, patronizing tone.

“You should adjust your attitude. Don’t think a wedding ring makes you queen.

“Ryan has always trusted me to handle everything for him. He likes the way I arrange his life. Some random woman can’t walk in and change that.”

She glanced back at the ballroom, posing as if she already owned it.

“Take today, for example. There isn’t one part of this wedding that didn’t go through me. If you want the ceremony to happen, you’ll follow my instructions. If you cause the slightest problem…”

Chloe paused, a threat in her eyes.

“I can shut this whole wedding down whenever I want.”

As I watched her gloat, the truth finally clicked.

From the beginning, Chloe had assumed I was the woman marrying Ryan today.

I thought back to the things Claire had told me over the past year, always with a weary sigh.

She had mentioned Ryan’s personal assistant long ago, a woman with no sense of boundaries.

On Claire’s birthday, she had reserved a table at a restaurant and waited for Ryan to join her.

She had already cut the cake when he called.

“Chloe’s doubled over with stomach pain. I need to stay with her. Go ahead and eat without me.”

After that brief explanation, he left Claire sitting alone in a private dining room for three hours

Another time, Claire spent days choosing an engagement ring. Ryan replaced it without even

scussing it with her.

“Chloe said that one was too flashy. Pick something else.”

Back then, Claire had kept reassuring herself. Chloe was only a capable assistant, and Ryan was

simply kind to his employees.

Now that I had seen Chloe’s shameless behavior for myself, a chill settled in my stomach.

I dropped the agreement on the floor. Every trace of warmth vanished from my face.

“Ryan really keeps a vicious little guard dog, doesn’t he? Loud, rude, and completely off-leash.”

The insult landed like a slap.

Her face went pale, then flushed an angry red, her lips trembling with rage.

“How dare you call me a dog?”

She practically shrieked as she spun toward the ballroom doors and waved wildly.

“Security! Get over here and throw this woman out! This wedding is canceled. Shut everything

down!”

Several security guards hurried toward us and reached for my arms.

I stepped back before they could touch me, a cold smile forming on my lips.

Every guest nearby was staring.

I looked straight at Chloe, who was shaking with fury, and spoke slowly.

“You’re canceling the wedding? Did Ryan approve that?”
