He Showed No Mercy When I Gave Birth Chapter 04

He Showed No Mercy When I Gave Birth Chapter 04 Not in Life, Not in Death

By the time I staggered into the living room, Rosalie was laughing as she kicked the bone chimes back and forth. Dirty shoe prints covered them. The last thread holding my mind together snapped. I could no longer beg for my son to be reborn as human. But even if I had to die for it, I would protect the last bit of dignity he had left. I rushed forward. “My baby! Give me back my baby!” Rosalie shot the servants a look. They grabbed me before I could reach her. She accepted the expensive recovery tonic from her nanny and took a slow sip. Her face was full of triumph. “A bastard child thought he could fight my son for the inheritance?” “These broken little bones should be grateful they can amuse me.” “He was never meant to be born. That was fate.” “Being trampled underfoot is all he deserves.” I could not take it anymore. I raised my hand and swung at Rosalie’s face. Smack! The slap never landed on her. Adrian appeared just in time and blocked it for her. The next second, he grabbed my hand and snapped it back with brutal force. My wrist broke. It hung at my side at a sickening angle. “Iris Hayes, so this is how you bully Rosie when I’m not around?” The broken pain tore through my arm. I held it against my chest, numb tears sliding down my face. Rosalie buried her face in Adrian’s arms and sobbed softly. “Adrian, don’t blame Iris.” “She was only joking with me…” Her voice trembled even harder at the end. Adrian’s eyes turned cold. He looked at me for a long moment. Then he said in a low voice, “Three hundred and sixty cuts.” “Then throw her into the courtyard.” I stared at him blankly. In the next instant, the servants rushed at me like starving jackals. One cut. Then another. The blade bit into my skin again and again. The pain was slow. Cruel. Like being carved apart while still alive. I sank into the despair of someone waiting to die. When my eyes met Adrian’s, a flicker of unease crossed his face. He took one step toward me without thinking. Rosalie grabbed his sleeve at once. “Adrian, I feel dizzy.” Adrian immediately held her up and helped her leave. I did not know how long the punishment lasted. When it finally ended, I was barely breathing. Still, I clutched the divorce papers in my hand. I dragged my ruined body through the blood on the floor. Inch by inch. At last, I collapsed into the arms of the people who had come to take me away. Adrian Sterling, from now on, we would never meet again. Not in life.
