You Thought You Knew My Love Chapter 04

You Thought You Knew My Love Chapter 04

That evening, Jenna took me home.

Only after I walked through the door did Adrian make his first call of the day.

“Nora, I’m sorry. The issue still isn’t fixed.”

“My secretary made a huge mistake. Your husband has to work all night.

“Eat properly. I had the housekeeper make your favorite French foie gras.

I looked at the message I had just received.

“He agreed to let me keep the baby.”

“He’ll stay with me tonight.”

This was the first time Adrian had stayed out all night since we got married.

Before this, no matter how late it was or how tired he got, he would come home.

He would wake me when I was deep asleep.

“Nora, I love you. How do I love you this much?”

“I really don’t want to go on business trips. I should just dump everything on someone else.”

He would hold me.

I would only feel irritated, open my eyes, and kick him off the bed.

He never cared. He would climb up from the floor and hug me again.

I thought of Jenna’s stunned face when I told her.

No one believed Adrian could betray me.

“What are you going to do?”

Jenna looked serious.

“I… I don’t know.”

Divorce? I had no solid proof.

If I asked for a divorce right now, with Adrian’s temper, he would never agree.

He would never admit it. He was best at clinging.

Without hard evidence, he would use every trick he had to make me soften, to make me give up.

If I didn’t put the whole truth in front of him, if I didn’t catch proof of his affair, he would find every

way to deceive me.

And I couldn’t guarantee I wouldn’t soften under his methods.

Even if I insisted on divorce, with his power in New York, it would be too hard.

I hated him for not being unfaithful enough.

Or maybe, deep down, I still had a tiny bit of hope.

But I looked at my phone and listened to the anxious breathing of the man on the other end.

In that instant, my wavering heart sank.

Fine.

Just one chance.

Only one.

As long as he confessed.

“Adrian, you’ve never lied to me, right?”

The man laughed.

“What are you overthinking? When have I ever lied to you?”

“I should come home.”

“No.”

I cut him off.

After making up my mind, I said, “Adrian, I want some money for an investment.”

Adrian was extremely controlling.

By the time I divorced him, I would definitely lose my job.

He would use every method he could to force me to submit.

I had to prepare early.

“An investment?”

Adrian laughed, his tone light.

“Sure. My Nora actually wants to do something besides her hobbies. Keep it up. Your husband earns

money for you to spend.”

“What if I lose it all?”

I deliberately acted spoiled.

“If you lose it, you lose it. It’s yours. Lose it however you want.”

Adrian transferred the money very quickly.

Hundreds of millions of dollars, twice as much as I had asked for.

When a man did something wrong, guilt made him especially generous.

I quietly moved the money into a Swiss bank account.
