My Don Paid Me 800. His Secretary Stole Millions Chapter 06

My Don Paid Me 800. His Secretary Stole Millions Chapter 06

Elaine was speechless. Her face went red, then pale.

She turned to Knox. One last try.

“Knox, we grew up together. You’d rather believe some gold digger than me?”

“I was only trying to protect you from her!”

“Shut up!”

Knox’s voice cut through the air like a blade.

“Who gave you the right to make decisions for me?”

“You stole her money. Then you lied to my face about her.”

He was shaking.

Then he turned to me.

His eyes were full of regret. Pain.

“Rae. I’m sorry. I was wrong.”

The great Don Rizzo. Apologizing.

I watched the whole thing coldly. Felt nothing.

“Knox, don’t apologize to me.”

My voice was calm.

“She took the money. But the attitude came from you.”

“If you hadn’t let her push me around, she wouldn’t have dared.”

Knox froze.

My words hit him like a bullet.

“You thought I was greedy.”

“You thought I was just some orphan. Give me a little money and I’d stay in my lane.”

“Knox, Elaine just acted out the arrogance you already felt.”

He looked like I’d punched him in the chest. His face went pale.

He opened his mouth. Nothing came out.

Because he knew I was right.

If he’d ever once checked on me. Once looked at my account.

Elaine’s lies would’ve fallen apart.

His pride. His neglect. That was the real knife in my back.

I said it plainly.

“Keep the money. Call it a lesson learned.”

“Don’t come looking for me again.”

Knox closed his eyes. Took a long breath.

“Elaine committed embezzlement. Hundreds of thousands. She’ll answer for it in prison.”

“Everything she took, everything she enjoyed—none of it was hers.”

“She’ll pay for her disloyalty.”

He called the police. They came for her within minutes.

Elaine begged. “Don, I was loyal to you! I just didn’t want some gold digger to use you!”

“I’m sorry, Don. You can’t do this to me!”

Knox didn’t even look at her.

He just watched me. Regret and longing in his eyes.

The show was over.

The crowd, having watched the whole drama, slowly drifted away.

The night went quiet. My cart glowed under the streetlight.

I turned off my livestream. Counted my supplies. Tallied today’s earnings.

Knox stood there. Lost. Unsure what to do with himself.

“Rae…”

“Elaine’s gone. I’ll get your money back. All of it.”

He pulled out a black card. Held it out to me with both hands.

“Come home. Take the card. Buy whatever you want.”

I looked at that unlimited black card. Almost laughed.

“Knox. Do you really think money fixes everything?”

I didn’t take it.

I picked up my rag and wiped the grill.

“I was your mistress because I needed money for Mrs. Brown’s surgery.”

“That was my job. I took the pay, I took the mistreatment. Fine.”

“But now? I’ve saved up enough on my own.”

I straightened up and looked him in the eyes.

“The little bird who begged for scraps—she starved to death in your mansion.”

“Now you’re looking at a woman who stands on her own.”
