From decision to car, barely three minutes passed.

That invisible force dragged me along with them.

I worked in New York.

It wasn’t far. They’d get there fast.

And yet in all that time–I never went home once.

Not because I didn’t want to.

But every time I tried, I’d forget the way.

I stared out the window at the familiar streets. A bitter smile tugged at rny lips.

They stormed into the building lobby. Pulled out a banner they’d had made on the way.

Iris ‘and my father held each end.

My mother sat down on the floor and wailed.

“God above, I’ve never done a single bad thing in my life–so why do I have a daughter like this?”

“Vicious. Evil. She nearly killed her own sister!”

“My youngest is a vegetable now. My grandchild is stuck in an incubator.”

“There’s no justice in this world!”

The company was in the middle of the city.

Her cries drew a crowd within seconds.

Strangers gathered around. Pointing. Whispering.

“My oldest daughter ruined my youngest!” she sobbed.

Her voice was raw. Pitiful.

Someone asked what happened.

“My daughter Nova is a murderer!” my mother declared. No hesitation.

“She made Celine go into early labor. Made her hemorrhage.”

“And now my grandchild can’t even leave the hospital!”

She grabbed the livestreamer by the arm.

The one who’d been filtning the whole time. She looked at him for confirmation.

He’d seen the baby. His face twisted at the memory.

He nodded,

“It’s terrible.”

The crowd erupted.

Everyone started calling me a monster.

A sister–killer. The worst kind of person.

The livestream comments were even worse.

Someone explained to new viewers:

[This woman is a whore. She slept with multiple men in college.]

[The first story was that she was hurt while saving her friend.]

[But her mother came out and said she brought it on herself.]

[I bet she seduced them on purpose–just to make Iris feel guilty forever.]

Someone found my photo. Turned it into a memorial portrait.

[This evil woman–she needs to pay. There’s no justice if she doesn’t.]

Someone else made a fake photo of me half–dressed.

Captioned it: [Eighty a pop. A hundred for the night.]

It spread fast. Across every platform.

Hatred poured in from all sides.

I couldn’t breathe.

Then a comment flashed past:

[Wait. Isn’t this a little too convenient? Celine went into labor when Nova wasn’t even there.[

[How could she have done anything?]

Someone agreed:

[Yeah. I saw the baby too. Preiuature, sure- but wrinkled?]

That’s genetic. Has nothing to do with Nova.]

But those comments got buried fast.

Then Blair stumbled out of the building.

She ran up to Luca and stopped.

She stared at him.

“You’re Nova’s husband?”

Luca’s face twisted at the sound of my name. Like I was his worst enemy.

“Yes.”

“Where’s Nova? Bring her out.”

“Yes!” my mother lunged forward.

“Where is that ungrateful child? Drag her out here!”

“She’s going to kneel and beg Celine and the baby for forgiveness!”

She grabbed Blair’s sleeve. Yanked so hard Blair almost fell.

But Blair didn’t flinch.

She looked at each of them. Slowly. One by one.

Then she smiled. Bitter. Sharp.

Luca’s face darkened.

Celine stepped forward, voice shrill.

“What’s that look for? Did that bitch Nova pay you off?”

The crowd started murmuring again.

Someone pointed at Blair. Called her an accomplice.

Blair didn’t flinch. Her smile only widened.

She stepped back.

“Don’t worry. I’ll go get Nova.”
