They Locked Me In a Tower. All To Please Her Chapter 05

They Locked Me In a Tower. All To Please Her Chapter 05

The moment the property manager finished speaking, Knox bolted toward the building.

Third floor. Flames pouring out the window.

Black smoke churning upward.

Residents streaming out of the stairwell. Firefighters holding a long perimeter.

Knox’s eyes were red with panic. He tried to charge into the fire.

Two firefighters grabbed him. Held him back,

“Sir, it’s too dangerous! You can’t go in!”

“Let me go! My girlfriend is still in there!”

He thrashed. Tears falling, “Mila! MILA!”

He screamed her name into the fire.

No answer.

My parents rushed over.

Mom’s hands were shaking.

She grabbed a firefighter’s arm,

“Please-my daughter is still inside-please save her-”

The firefighter’s face was grim, “We’ve completed the first sweep. No one’s inside.”

“No one? Then Mila got out?”

Ella bit her lip. Looked anxious.

“Could it be… she started the fire herself? She’s always resented us.”

“Maybe she set it to get back at everyone. Then ran and hid.”

Her shoulders shook. Tears fell.

“My fault. If I hadn’t come for my birthday, none of this would’ve happened.”

Everyone rushed to comfort her.

“Ella, don’t be scared. It’s not your fault.”

“Mila’s always been unstable. This is exactly the kind of thing she’d do.”

“She ran. At least she’s not hurt.”

Then a neighbor frowned.

“Wait. This afternoon, I had my window open.”

“I saw someone jump. From this building.”

Knox jerked, “What? Jumped?”

“A figure. From the third floor.”

The property manager reacted, “Pull the exterior cameras! Now!”

The management office. Footage on screen.

Flames spreading from inside. Smoke swallowing the balcony.

The camera caught Mila. Backed against the window. Jumping.

The footage didn’t stop there.

Seconds later. The greenbelt below. Mila, dragging herself up.

One leg twisted. Clearly broken.

Dirt. Blood. The back of her shirt burned through.

She gritted her teeth. Pulled herself up on a broken leg. Limped.

Disappeared off-screen.

The video ended. The office was silent.

Mom stared at the screen. Lips trembling. Tears pouring.

“My daughter… my Mila…”

Dad’s face was ashen. Hands shaking at his sides.

All the earlier accusations-gone.

Replaced by a wave of dread.

Dorian’s face was gray. He swallowed. Spoke quietly.

“When we locked her on the balcony… her head hit the table.”

“There was blood on the floor.”

He looked toward where the footage had disappeared. His voice shook.

“She’s scared of heights. She’s covered in wounds. Her leg’s broken.”

“Can she even survive like that?”
