After They Stole My Life, Reborn I Called Another Man Dad Chapter 09

I didn’t say a word.

Arthur suddenly turned and walked out.

I chased after him.

His hands were shaking.

“She always knew.”

It wasn’t a question.

It was the final piece of the puzzle falling into place.

That night, I went to the Miller house for the first time on my own.

Everyone was in the living room.

The moment Eleanor saw the nursing report in Arthur’s hand, all the color drained from her face.

Austin stood up too.

Arthur tossed the enlarged scan of the old photograph onto the coffee table.

“Explain.”

For several seconds, no one spoke.

The 0417 ID band around my wrist was crystal clear in the photograph.

And Eleanor’s signature was right there on the nursing report.

Eleanor’s lips went white.

“I…”

Austin suddenly stepped in front of her.

“That was eighteen years ago. What difference does digging it up now make?”

Arthur stared at him.

“So you knew?”

Austin said nothing.

I spoke first.

“The final check before the newborn was discharged.”

“You were the one who tore off my ID band and put it on Chloe.”

I paused, then added, “And you said you only considered Chloe your sister. Because in our previous life, she was afraid you’d all stop loving her after I came home. She ran away, got kidnapped, and disappeared. So this time, you decided you’d protect her at all costs.”

The room went deathly silent.

The cup in Eleanor’s hand slipped from her fingers and shattered against the floor.

Austin’s pupils contracted.

“How could you possibly…”

I looked at him with a faint, almost mocking smile.

“Because I remember it too.”

The last trace of color disappeared from his face.

“Do you need me to keep going?”

I looked him straight in the eye.

“The blizzard. The mansion. Chloe’s funeral when there wasn’t even a body to bury.”

“And the night you threw me out.”

Austin shot to his feet.

His composure finally broke.

“Enough!”

His voice cracked as he shouted, “Yes! I switched the ID bands. So what?”

Arthur stared at him in disbelief.

Austin’s eyes were bloodshot as he pointed at me and yelled at Arthur.

“If we hadn’t brought her back in our previous life, why would Chloe have run away? She was kidnapped for three years! Three years! Do you have any idea what we went through trying to find her?

I looked at him and couldn’t help letting out a bitter laugh.

“So you froze me to death.”

My voice stayed calm.

“None of you ever sat down and decided that I had to die. You just never once stopped to ask wha would happen to me after you threw me out.”

I picked up the photograph and the nursing report and carefully put them away.

“The police are investigating whether Ethan was involved in the baby switch. This photograph proves that the ID band had already been switched by the time he carried me out of the hospital.”

“The nursing report and the nurse who was there can also prove that Ethan was downstairs at the time, dealing with Sarah’s funeral arrangements.”

I turned to Austin.

“By noon tomorrow, I want you to withdraw the report you filed against Ethan and publicly state that he had no idea what was happening from beginning to end.”

“Otherwise, I’ll hand all of this straight to my lawyer.”
