My Fiancé Confessed His Betrayal Chapter 04

My Fiancé Confessed His Betrayal Chapter 04 An Apology in Blood

On the cold operating table, metallic instruments scraped inside my body.

As I felt the faint spark of life draining away from me, a dark relief washed over my heart. Perhaps this innocent soul was never meant to enter such a foul world.

By dusk, I dragged my exhausted body back home.

Shane Sterling took one look at my corpse–pale face and offered me a glass of warm water.

“I was just about to pick you up from the university. Stop holding a grudge against Wynne. If you hadn’t humiliated her in front of everyone, she wouldn’t have panicked and said those things.

“Don’t be so dramatic. You’re going to be a mother soon, so stop acting like a child.

“I’ve already instructed Wynne to file for divorce. Once the 1–month waiting period passes, you and I will register.”

Without a word, I turned to look at the framed wedding photograph hanging on the wall.

Snatching the glass from his hand, I slammed it against the frame with all my force.

The glass shattered into sharp shards, slicing directly across Shane’s face in the portrait.

Shane’s jaw hardened into a scowl.

The next moment, Wynne emerged from my bedroom, clutching her phone.

“Shane, I was terrified when Liz lost her temper earlier. My hands shook, and I entered the password wrong three times, so the system locked me out. Now we have to wait 7 days to try again.”

I stood motionless, not even bothering to glance her way.

Shane scrutinized my face, searching for a reaction. Finding only dead silence, a cold chuckle escaped his lips.

“Then let’s not bother divorcing. If Liz isn’t in a hurry, why should we rush?

“Besides, everyone knows we’ve been together for 10 years. She’s practically family anyway.”

A glint of venom flashed in Wynne’s eyes. Tearing herself away from Shane with reddened eyes, she dropped to her knees right in front of me with a heavy thud.

“Liz, I swear I didn’t mean to! I’m not lying to you, I promise–look!”

She shoved her phone toward me, leaning in until her lips nearly brushed my ear.

“So, big sister… is your bastard baby still alive? Or did it go straight to hell to keep your dad company?”

Her whisper dripped with pure malice.

“Why did you and your dad have to play the heroes and save me when my parents died? Since you saved me, you owed me a home! Shane satisfies me in ways you could never imagine.

“Oh, and by the way… the day your dad showed signs of waking up from his coma, I visited his room to thank him. I even played him the video of the first time Shane and I slept together.

“Who knew the great hero had such a weak heart? He got so furious that he bit through his oxygen tube and suffocated right there.”

My jaw clenched so hard my teeth ached.

Unable to contain the fury boiling within me, I summoned every ounce of strength and delivered a brutal slap across Wynne’s face.

Shane immediately kicked me in the ribs. The force tore my surgical stitches open, and fresh blood soaked through my clothes, making me gasp in agony.

“Liz Vance, what the hell is wrong with you?!”

Bloody tears trickled down my cheeks as I let out a broken laugh. “It was her… She murdered my father!”

Shane froze, his mouth opening to speak.

Before he could say a word, Garrett Thorne burst into the house. He instantly pulled Wynne into his arms, his eyes filled with heartache.

“Liz Vance, you’re a police officer! Look at yourself right now–do you even deserve that badge?!”

Facing my bloodshot glare, he let out a heavy sigh.

“The public outrage is spiraling out of control. Your father’s case will be reopened for investigation, meaning his remains must be removed from the National Memorial Cemetery immediately.

“As for you, the department is placing you on indefinite suspension. Wynne is traumatized, so you’ll use this time to care for her.

“You’re the only family she has left. Stop abusing her.”

Shane uttered a cold sneer.

“You only carry that police badge because you inherited your father’s number. Hand over your uniform and service weapon. You don’t step foot outside this house until you learn how to apologize.”

In my mind, the system chimed with a frantic ten–second countdown.

I stared at the hidden smirk curling Wynne’s lips and laughed through tears of blood.

Gently stroking the cold steel of the service pistol, I backed toward the open window, step by

step.

The moment I raised the gun toward them, I flipped the barrel and pressed it firmly against my own temple.

“I owe her an apology… so how could words ever be enough?”

Shane instinctively lunged forward, his hands stretching out in panic.

His eyes dilated in horror.

I smiled softly. “I’ll apologize with my life.”

Bang.

The gunshot shattered the window glass into a million pieces.

Shane’s agonizing scream echoed through the air.

“Liz! No!!”
