They Called Me a Simp. The School Heartthrob Is My Brother Chapter 12

After Eden was disciplined, the school gained a new tradition.

Every day, people stared at me and Nate as we passed.

Like they were trying to find proof of our blood relation on our faces.

Some said our eyebrows matched.

Some said we swore the same way.

One person summed it up best:

“You both have that ‘I don’t take crap from anyone’ energy.”

I agreed with half of that. Nate got the other half.

My phone, debit card, and clothes were returned.

My house keys, however, stayed at the bottom of the lake.

The Vances paid for new locks, plus medical bills and damages.

The school also revised the student council’s property confiscation rules.

As for the forum post calling me Nate’s ultimate simp-

it became the highest-liked post in school history.

The admin wanted to delete it. I said no.

That kind of historical record deserved to be preserved.

Nate wasn’t happy, “Can you at least ask them to delete the underwear photo?”

“No.”

“Zoe.”

“Calling me mom won’t help.”

“I’m your brother.”

“Then ask nicely.”

In the end, he traded me a month’s worth of breakfast for the deletion rights.

I cried tears of profit.

I thought after everything, I’d finally escape serving the prince.

But the day my mom came back from her trip, she sat both of us down on the couch.

She yelled at Nate first, “I asked you to take care of your sister.”

“And you let her get locked up? What’s the point of you?”

He lowered his head and admitted fault.

Then she turned to me, “And you.”

“Your brother got publicly confessed to, and you didn’t tell me?”

“I didn’t know until that day either.”

“Then why didn’t you record it?”

I froze. That was my mom.

The family talent for enjoying drama ran strong.

After the lecture, she signed a new contract with me:

breakfast deliveries, thirty dollars each.

Water, twenty. Notes, by the page.

Late-night food runs counted as overtime-double pay.

I read it carefully and signed immediately.

Dignity was nice. Allowance was better.

The next morning, I showed up at the field with breakfast again.

Everyone stared.

“Now that we know she’s his sister, it’s actually kind of sweet.”

“Bringing her brother breakfast every day? Such great sibling bonding.”

I handed the food to Nate.

The moment he reached for it, I opened Venmo.

“Thirty.”

His eye

twitched. “Didn’t I just give you two hundred last night?”

“That was for deleting the post.”

“Family charges each other?”

“Exactly because we’re family. Strangers? I wouldn’t even bother.”

He transferred the money with a dark look.

I checked the balance and turned around, satisfied.

After two steps, he called my name.

“Zoe.”

I turned. He tossed me a new set of keys.

The keychain was a little growling dog.

Underneath it, a tag:

[Sterling Family Simp]

I laughed in disbelief, “Are you asking to die?”

He ran. I chased him across half the field with my backpack.

People stepped aside, “Aww, sibling bonding. She’s even running with him.”

I ran and gritted my teeth.

Great. Before, the whole school called me a simp.

Now they called us close.

Only I knew-if my mom weren’t paying me, I wouldn’t be playing maid to this prince.

But for thirty bucks at a time… I could put up with him for a few more years.
