I only learned later that Cillian had tried to run back the tnoment he reached the safety zone.

The emergency responders had held him back.

By then, I had already tied the bedsheets together.

With Lumi secured tightly to my back, I climbed out of the window, descending inch by inch.

Lumi was incredibly brave. Though her face was pale with terror, she clamped her teeth shut and didn’t

make a sound.

My descent was slow but steady.

The rough fabric tore the skin off my palms. My weakened wolf could not heal the wounds, but I refused to

let go.

The moment my feet touched the ground, I saw Cillian sprinting toward me.

Then, everything went black.

When I finally opened my eyes, I was lying in a hospital bed..

I stared blankly at the ceiling before sitting up in a panic. “Lumi!”

“She is in the next room. She is fine.”

A familiar voice spoke. I turned to find Cillian sitting beside my bed.

He looked terrible. Dark circles hung under his eyes, and his face was drawn with exhaustion. Seeing me

awake, he let out a visible sigh of relief.

But his expression quickly turned angry. “Why did you climb down? Do you have any idea how dangerous

that was?”

“I told you to wait for me.”

A sharp pain pierced my chest, but my voice remained steady. “I don’t trust you.”

“You don’t trust me? Why wouldn’t you trust me?” Cillian looked at me as if I were speaking nonsense.

I began to list his failures one by one.

“You promised you wouldn’t see Brielle again, yet you were back with her months later.”

“You promised to spend our anniversary with me, but you left to set off fireworks for her instead.”

“When Lumi had a high fever, you took Brielle’s call and said you would be right back. You never came.”

There were too many instances. I had stopped counting.

Cillian fell silent.

He understood.

It wasn’t a sudden loss of trust. He had simply broken his word too many times.

“I…” He looked lost.

I cut him off. “It doesn’t matter. I don’t blame you. Since you love Brielle so much, I am letting you go.”

“Once Lumi’s treatment is over, we will officially sever our Mate Bond.””

This was the second time I had demanded this.

Cillian still believed I was just acting out of anger.

“Flora, there is no need to use such words to hurt me. You cannot survive outside the Wrenford Pack.”

I closed my eyes and stopped speaking.

Over the next few days, he was incredibly attentive.

He brought me meals himself and made sure I took my medicine.

When I ignored him, he brought Lumi to my bedside, gently pinching her cheek. “Mommy is angry with Daddy. Can you help me ask for her forgiveness?”

Lumi pouted. “Lumi is angry with Daddy too. You didn’t save us.”

Cillian froze. A deep, genuine guilt appeared on his face. He looked at his daughter.

“Lumi, Daddy was wrong. I promise I will never leave you behind again, okay?”

Lumi hesitated. “Really?”

“Pinky swear.”

“Cross my heart.”

His voice was soft and sincere. Lumi could not help but lean in and kiss his cheek before crawling into my arms, begging me to forgive him.

I didn’t want to argue in front of the child, so I forced a smile. “Mommy is not angry.”

Cillian watched us, his gaze softening.

For a brief moment, it felt as though Brielle had never existed, and we were a happy family again.

Until Brielle burst into the rooin, tears streaming down her face as she pointed a finger at me.

“Elora, what did I ever do to you? How could you frame me for arson?”
