They Tried To Punish My Daughter, Unaware We Were Vampires Chapter 07

“Even now, you’re still lying to us?”

Rowan stared at the photographs scattered across the floor, his teeth clenched with rage..

Realizing the truth was out, Kayla finally dropped her helpless Rosie act. Fighting through the pain

of her broken leg, she pulled a small black remote from her pocket.

“You think I’d walk into this place alone? I hit the panic button before any of you knew what was

happening. My people are already on their way.‘

She laughed wildly, her eyes burning with hatred.

“I don’t care if you’re a vampire or some other kind of monster. When my man gets here with his

guns, he’ll fill every one of you with holes.”

She meant Raymond Dalton.

I had seen that name in the file. Ray was a small–time boss at a local underground casino, with

dozens of armed thugs under him.

The color drained from Silas’s and Rowan’s faces. They had spent enough time around Greyhaven’s

criminal circles to know what Ray was capable of.

“We’re finished,” Rowan whispered, closing his eyes. “We’re all dead.”

I couldn’t help laughing. I was so delighted that tears sprang to my eyes.

I sat in a nearby chair and crossed my legs.

“Good. I’ll wait.”

Less than five minutes later, tires screeched outside the estate. Heavy footsteps rushed through the

mansion, followed by the crash of the front door being forced open.

“Kayla! Who the hell touched my woman?”

A rough voice thundered from upstairs.

Dozens of men poured down the basement stairs carrying machetes and modified shotguns.

At their head was Ray, bald and furious at the sight of Kayla’s broken leg.

Kayla’s expression changed instantly. She dragged herself toward him.

“Ray! This old bitch is some kind of freak. Shoot her! Everything in this mansion will be ours!”

More than a dozen gun barrels swung toward me.

Silas and Rowan shrank into a corner, too terrified to breathe. Ray raised his gun with a contemptuous smile.

“I don’t care what kind of trick you’re pulling. I’m sending you straight to hell.”

The gun went off.

The bullet missed. By the time Ray pulled the trigger, I was no longer in the chair. I had moved

faster than the human eye could track, leaving only a blur behind.

My voice seemed to whisper in every ear at once, as if it had risen from hell.

“Eight hundred years, and someone has finally come to me willingly.”

“No one here is innocent, are they?”

The slaughter began.

There was no contest and no need for technique.

I tore through the men before they could aim, snapping necks and draining them dry in seconds.

Gunshots and screams filled the basement, punctuated by the sickening crack of breaking bones.

Within a minute, silence returned.

I returned to where I had started and wiped the blood from the corner of my mouth.

Dozens of shriveled bodies littered the floor.

Ray lay beneath my shoe, his dead eyes staring up at nothing,

Kayla had seen everything. Less than two minutes had passed between Ray breaking into the estate and his entire crew ending up dead.

Her mouth opened, but only a thin rasp escaped as she dragged herself backward, her broken leg leaving a trail of blood.

When her back struck a freezer, she had nowhere left to go.

“Please don’t kill me,” she sobbed, her voice high and hoarse. “I’ll give you everything. Money,

houses, cars. Anything you want.”

I slowly lifted my foot. Ray’s body slid off my shoe and hit the floor with a thud.

When I looked toward Silas and Rowan, both of them had wet themselves.
