They Tried To Punish My Daughter, Unaware We Were Vampires Chapter 06

I ignored Rosie’s screams and approached her at a deliberately human pace. Her panic mounted with every slow step.

I closed one hand around her slender throat and lifted her off the floor as if she weighed nothing

“Let… let me go…”

Rosie clawed at my wrist and kicked helplessly in the air. Her face turned red from lack of air, and

tears and snot smeared across it. Her innocent, pitiful facade vanished.

Pinned to the floor by my aura, Silas still tried to play the hero.

“Put her down, you old hag… If you want a fight, come at me…

I glanced at him.

Even now, he was a complete fool.

I tossed Rosie aside. She crashed to the floor with a sharp crack, her leg twisting into a grotesque,

broken angle.

She screamed like a stuck pig and thrashed across the floor.

Rowan lunged toward Rosie, but one look from me stopped him cold. He opened his mouth, then lowered his head without daring to speak.

Silas craned his neck and tried to curse at me.

I hooked the toe of my shoe under Silas and flipped him onto his back. He could only stare at the ceiling as the curse died in his throat.

“What’s the rush? She won’t be hurting much longer.”

The basement went dead silent.

I crossed to a nearby safe and tore off its solid steel door with one hand. I pulled out a thick file and

hurled it into Silas’s face.

“Take a good look at the sweet, innocent girl you were willing to die for. See what she really is.”

The file burst open, scattering documents and photographs across the floor.

Straining against my aura, Silas managed to turn to the first page. His pupils contracted the

moment he read it.

Rosalie Hart didn’t exist. The woman in front of him wasn’t a transfer student, either.

Her real name was Kayla Reed. She was a professional con artist who targeted wealthy heirs with honey traps and extortion schemes.

She worked with a large criminal crew that targeted rich, reckless men who were easy to manipulate.

Silas and Rowan had been ideal marks.

The file contained photos of Kayla in hotel rooms with other trust–fund heirs. There were also

messages showing how she and her accomplices divided the money.

“No… This isn’t real.”

Silas shook his head frantically, as if his whole world had collapsed.

“Rosie cries over a scraped finger. How could she be a con artist?”

He looked toward her as she writhed on the floor.

“Rosie, tell me this is fake.”

Kayla’s face was drained of color, and sweat poured down her forehead from the pain. Even then, Kayla kept up the lie.

“Silas, she fabricated all of it! Mrs. Vesper wants me gone, so she’s trying to frame me!”
