The Day He Donated My Heart, I Reset the World Chapter 06

The Day He Donated My Heart, I Reset the World Chapter 06 Off–script

my mouth–earve. Something loosened in my chest.

“Believe me now?”

Mia’s eyes went wide. She snatched my arm, nails digging in.

“Wait–hold up. You haven’t forgiven him, have you?”

She jabbed a finger at me–case closed.

“He did something to you. In your past life. I knew it! That’s why you’re dead set on the divorce. And you’re gonna wait till the papers go through before you even tell him.”

I let out a breath. Slow. Like letting go of something I’d been holding for two lifetimes. Nodded.

Just like that, all the fire went out of Mia. Her face softened–the way it only did for me. She grabbed both my hands, holding on tight.

“Hey, hey–don’t. That pos is not worth your tears. And forget waiting on the papers–we’re freezing his accounts yesterday. He’s not walking away with a single cent.”

I caught her hand. Held it.

“I need you on this.”

That was all it took. The tenderness in her face flipped. Something else moved in–sharp. Eager.

“You don’t even have to finish that sentence.” Her grip tightened. “I’ve got you. Always have. Now let’s go take everything he’s got.”

One month later.

The decree between my fingers. Wrong–something that final shouldn’t be that light.

Cassian sat across the table. Eyes bloodshot, wrecked. Gripping his copy so hard the paper was starting to wrinkle.

“Why? You just pull the plug like that?”

I turned the decree in my fingers. Gave him a cold smile.

“Oh, that? Vance family already cleared it.” A beat. “Your girl Celeste signed off the second I asked. You want to be pissed at someone? Go yell at your future wife’s parents. I’m not the one who handed me the pen.”

Turned. Walked. Didn’t look back. My heels clicked on the marble floor–each step a period at the end of a

sentence.

Suddenly, the system detonated inside Cassian’s skull.

“CRITICAL ALERT: Target is off–script. Sentience detected. Reset to canon path. Or you will die.”

His brow crushed together–locked. He flooded my phone. Voicemail. Voicemail. Voicemail. I let him drown in it.

La call. I picked up. Didn’t say hello.

“See you in court. I’m taking everything. Down to the last cent.”

Click.

Off the timeline now. His despair came through loud and 2lear.

Good.

His suffering wasn’t even a scratch on what he’d put me through.

He earned this.

Cassian, this is barely the beginning. Don’t break yet. I’m not done with you.

One bag. Mia’s place. Then my brother’s.

The door opened. My brother Cole and his wife Nora froze–then lit up when they saw it was me.

“Aurelia!” Nora reached for me. “Oh my God–what are you doing here?”

Cole looked at my face. Read it in one second.

“What did they do to you. Tell me. We can take it.”

Something stung behind my nose. Deep. The kind of sting that comes right before tears you don’t let fall.

So this is what family’s supposed to feel like.

I looked at them. Steady.

“I’m fine. Just cut ties with the Vances. For good.”

My brother went still. Something flickered in his eyes–shock, then something he pushed down hard. His hand found my shoulder. Squeezed once.

“Okay. Whatever you decide, we’ve got your back.”

A pause. His voice went rough. Like gravel under tires.

“If we hadn’t been so broke back then–Mom and Dad never would’ve let you be adopted by another family.”

I smiled–barely–and shook my head.

“It’s in the past. Don’t carry it.”

We sat down. I laid it out–all of it. What the Vances did to me. What Celeste took. I told it flat, like reading off a list.

My brother’s face went grey. His fists were shaking–not fear, rage. The kind that makes you want to h something and can’t.

had her hand over her mouth.

And I just—smiled. Because I’d already lived this. Already died from it. The rage was spent. What was left was the appetite.

What I had planned for them hadn’t even started. And I couldn’t wait.

I pulled out my phone. Dialed.

One ring. He picked up.

“Mr. Saint–Laurent.” I let the smile through. Not warm. Not cold. Certain. “I hear you’re hosting the Grand Prix de la Haute Couture. I’d like a spot.”
