The Stolen Mate and the Moon Goddess’s Trial Chapter 06

The Stolen Mate and the Moon Goddess’s Trial Chapter 06 Trap in the Lab Server Room

I received treatments at the hospital. The stench of disinfectant pricked my nostrils.

I lay on the cold and hard emergency bed, my left hand wrapped tight in bandages while an IV drip ran into my right arm.

Characters suddenly materialized, floating in mid-air.

They read, “The weekly sex has been completed. The data will refresh in 6 days, 23 hours, and 59 minutes.”

There was a task progress bar showing Quinn’s completion progress of the tasks assigned by the demon.

Blessed with power from the Moon Goddess, I could now see this progress bar clearly.

My knuckles whitened as I squeezed the edge of the bed, layers of hatred coiling heavy in my heart once more.

My phone buzzed on the nightstand.

The screen lit up with Asher’s name.

The message he sent carried fake gentle remorse.

“Lila, I’m sorry. Quinn said that as long as she could get the core data from your experiment, the demon will spare her life. Once this is over, can we start over? I’ll make your favorite pizza for you.”

I stared at the message, and my stomach lurched violently with nausea.

My throat choked as I bitterly recalled the shattered crystal bracelet beads and the sight of their having sex.

My fingers tapped across the screen to type a reply. “All data is stored on the lab server. The password is our anniversary.”

The second I hit the send button, the Moon Goddess’s voice echoed in my head.

“The trial has begun. There is a reminder. Quinn and Asher are about to break into Werewolf Academy to steal classified lab data.”

My features softened into a faint, cold smirk.

When fate ruins you, there may still be a way out. But when people ruin themselves, there is no saving

them.

At three in the morning, I pulled the IV needle out of my arm and sneaked out of the hospital.

Chilling winter wind cut straight through my thin hospital gown. My back wounds burned, making me grind my teeth against the pain.

The glass doors of Werewolf Academy’s lab glinted coldly beneath the night sky.

The fingerprint scanner recognized my identity the instant I laid a finger on it. The door slid open at once.

Dim indicator lights flickered inside the server room. I slipped into the ventilation duct, hiding myself to wait for my prey to walk straight into the trap I had set.

It was not long before the door lock triggered again. Quinn wore my spare white lab coat and marched straight toward the server racks.

Asher trailed close behind her, clutching the access card I sent him.

“Hurry up,” Asher urged her. “Lila acted far too cooperative this time. There might be something wrong. Let’s finish everything before she returns from the hospital.

Despite this critical moment, he reached out and fixed Quinn’s hair clip behind her ear. However, it was the birthday gift he had given me last year.

I let out a quiet mocking huff and pressed the remote switch on my phone to activate the alarm

system.

A shrill blaring alarm erupted from the servers. Crimson warning strobes flashed nonstop all over the room.

Quinn spun around, her face drained of color the second her eyes locked onto the red glow of the surveillance camera lens.

I said softly into my phone’s microphone, my tone laced with icy amusement. “I’m glad to see you two dropped by at midnight. Did you come to sort through my research data for me?”

Quinn froze completely on the spot, her face going deathly pale.

Asher scrambled to yank out the power cord, yet he could not locate the main power switch anywhere.

The next second, the heavy iron security door slammed shut with a deafening clang, locking both of them inside the server room.
