My Wife Longed for My Foster Brother Chapter 07 Alive

Everything went black in front of Cassandra’s eyes.

She nearly collapsed again.

The assistant asked hesitantly, “Miss Vance, if you’d like, I cargo in your place…”

“No.” “No need.”

Cassandra and Derek spoke at the same time.

‘I’ll go myself,” Cassandra said. “I refuse to believe he’d leave me that easily.”

Her tears were falling like broken strings of pearls.

Finished

Derek’s eyes flashed with jealousy. “Cassandra, you should go. Once you see his mangled body with your >wn eyes, you’ll finally understand. People like him were born with cheap lives. He got lucky for a few years–but nothing that wasn’t his to begin with was ever going to stay his.”

Cassandra didn’t argue. She straightened her clothes, tied a scarf around her neck, and carefully covered he marks near her collarbone.

Deep down, she felt that August wasn’t dead. He loved her too much. He had promised at their wedding hat they would grow old together. How could he leave first?

she didn’t want him to see traces of another man on her if they met again. She couldn’t bear to hurt him

nymore.

she avoided Derek’s hands and forced herself to stand. She walked a few steps toward the door–then urned back, picked up the divorce agreement, and tore it into pieces.

I will never agree to a divorce.”

She said it through clenched teeth.

She didn’t know if she was saying it to Derek, or to August, or to herself.

At the Civil Aviation Administration, the families of the victims had gathered. The hall was filled with sobbing and phone calls. Cassandra scrolled through the news obsessively, trying to calm the panic in her chest.

Seven of the top ten trending topics were about the crash. Then a familiar name caught her eye.

Sterling Heir August Sterling Donates 10 Million

Her hands shook as she tapped it.

It was an interview. He’d changed his plans at the last minute. He had never boarded that flight. He was still in Ashford. After learning about the crash, he’d donated the full amount to the victims‘ families.

Cassandra burst into tears. Pride and regret mixed in her chest.

Her August had always been this kind. And he had hurt him so badly–she must have broken his heart completely.

But she still had a chance. He hadn’t left. That meant he still had feelings for her–didn’t it? He couldn’t bear to leave her behind.

The crowd stirred. Someone shouted, “Young Master Sterling is here!”

The Civil Aviation Administration had already informed the families about August’s donation. Money couldn’t bring back loved ones, but it was something.

Cassandra’s heart pounded. She rose on her toes and searched the entrance.

August walked in, dressed in solemn black, walking beside the CAA director.

In that moment, Cassandra remembered the first time she’d seen him.

At the banquet where the Sterlings acknowledged their real son, Derek had complained that some country bumpkin from the middle of nowhere was coming to take his place. She’d decided to put the newcomer in his place to show him he didn’t belong.

Then Mr. and Mrs. Sterling walked in with the real young master. Her eyes had landed on August: tall, straight–backed, handsome. Her heart had sped up without her permission.

But she’d been so focused on defending Derek that she’d ignored that feeling.

She was so stupid. She’d had a man like August right in front of her for three years, and she’d never let him touch her.

She ran forward, desperate.

“Hubby!”
