The Crippled Triplet Luna Severing the Bloodline Chapter 07

Sylvie kept on, her complaints spilling out.

“Just hate Nola. Mom and Dad already had you and me. Why did they need to have her too?”

“I set that fire back then. I just wanted to teach Nola a lesson. I never expected hurting her leg would

make Mom and Dad care about her even more.”

“I just can’t accept it. Why couldn’t she just disappear? Why did she always have to take away Mom

and Dad’s attention?”

Just then, hurried footsteps echoed from behind.

Before she could even react, Mom slapped her.

Smack.

Sylvie stumbled and fell to the floor. Her first reaction was to hide the letters in her hand behind her

back.

“Mom?”

Sylvie’s eyes were filled with panic.

“You’re back?”

Dad snatched the letters away. One look and his face went pale.

They were the official invitations from Northvale to Nola.

There was more than one.

Sylvie hurriedly explained, “Okay, I found them and didn’t tell you, but Nola was set on going herself. It’s not my fault.”

Mom trembled with anger.

“She was set on it?”

“She left because we broke her heart!”

Something clicked in Dad’s mind, and his eyes turned cold as they fixed on Sylvie.

“You started the fire back then. What about the fire last time?”

Sylvie’s face turned pale as she shook her head desperately.

“No, no, no. That one wasn’t on purpose. I just forgot to turn off the stove.”

Mom closed her eyes in pain.

Maybe she remembered the day at the hospital when she had blamed and scolded me without

asking what happened.

I’d tried to explain.

She just hadn’t wanted to hear it.

Seeing that everything had spiraled out of control, Callum gritted his teeth and pulled Sylvie up

from the floor.

“I don’t think Sylvie said anything wrong! We do hate Nola.”

“Since you’re going to blame us because of her…”

“Then we’re done.”

The two of them turned and walked out.

Mom instinctively took a step after them.

But this time, she stopped.

The door slammed shut.

The living room fell completely silent.

Mom looked more exhausted than she ever had before.

She stared blankly at Dad, her voice hoarse.

“Have we… been wrong all along?”

“Nola is their little sister. How could they be so cruel to her…”

She trailed off, unable to say more.

Because the answer was right in front of them.

All these years, whenever Callum or Sylvie got upset or ran away from home, they had always made

Nola give in.

They kept saying they favored me.

But in ten years, the actual favor had been pitifully thin.

Nola got the hardest room to reach.

No one remembered her birthdays.

Her pain was dismissed as acting.

Even her meds and rehab got cut without a second thought.

Dad lit a cigarette and sat silently on the couch.

This time, no one talked about coaxing Callum and Sylvie back.

Just then, Mom suddenly caught a faint metallic smell.

Her wolf instincts made her frown.

Following the scent, she lowered her head and slowly lifted the black couch cushion.

The next second, she froze.

Under the cushion was a large patch of dried, darkened blood.

Dad sucked in a sharp breath as well.

Because the cushion was black, no one had ever noticed it.

And the location of the blood… was exactly where I had been sleeping these days.

Mom thought back to everything I had said and done those days.

She covered her face, sobbing.

“She wasn’t angling for attention. She was really in pain.”

“So much blood… she must have been in agony.”

By the end, Mom was already crying uncontrollably.

Dad’s eyes were red, and he clenched his fists without saying a word.

It was as if they finally saw the real Nola from those days.

Not Nola using her injured leg to steal attention.

But a child who could only curl up on the couch from the pain, yet was still seen as a burden by

everyone.

She wanted to go upstairs and sleep in her own room.

But she was in too much pain.

Forget climbing stairs. She didn’t even have the strength to lift her leg.

No one knew how much time had passed before Dad hugged Mom, who was nearly crying herself

unconscious.

“Let’s go find Nola.”

“We’re bringing her home.”
