Quit the Mafia Crown, Took the Healer Scalpel Chapter 03

Lina quickly hid the pills behind her back. “Vitamins.”

“Vitamins?”

Dante laughed coldly, snatched the box from her hand, and his gaze went arctic when he read the label.

“You’ve been on birth control?”

“You never wanted my child, did you?”

“My body still hasn’t recovered—” Lina said flatly.

“Enough!”

Dante hurled the box to the floor.

Looking at Lina’s distant face, a nameless anger rushed to his head, along with a strange panic.

The woman who used to laugh, cry, and burn with jealousy for him seemed to have vanished.

“Fine,” Dante gritted out, his eyes cold. “Lina Conti, you’ll regret this.”

He turned and slammed the door behind him.

There was not a ripple in Lina’s eyes.

The truth was, she had regretted it long ago. She regretted ever meeting Dante, and regretted giving him her heart.

In the morning, she ran the household as usual, but turned down every social invitation.

The butler was puzzled.

“Donna, these events also matter to the Don’s business. Why are you refusing them all?”

“I won’t attend any more,” Lina said, closing her planner. “There are things I need to hand over to you.”

She went through them one by one.

“Dante’s schedule and which families to see are in the blue notebook. Rotate estate security each season; the chief’s number is in the phone book.”

The more he heard, the more uneasy he grew. “Donna, the Don only ever let you handle these. Are you—”

Lina smiled faintly.

“Soon I won’t be the Donna. Either remind Dante to handle these, or teach the new one.”

The butler’s face changed. Before he could speak, the sound of a car engine rolled in from outside the gate.

Before long, Dante walked in with a young woman on his arm.

Lina looked up. Dante hadn’t exaggerated when he said Iris was like her.

The girl was plainly dressed, cool and stubborn, exactly the way Lina had been before life wore her edges down.

Especially the way her eyes looked at Dante, recreating all the adoration and obsession Lina once had.

Dante noticed Lina staring and smiled deeper.

“This is Iris White. From today on, she lives here,” he announced, then told the staff, “Treat her like the Donna.”

Dante had had many mistresses, but this was the first time he had moved one into Rose Manor.

The servants exchanged glances. Was the Conti family really about to change Donnas?

Lina acted as if nothing had happened, quietly instructing the butler.

“Have the room next to Don’s prepared for Miss Iris.”

“Wait.”

Dante’s face tightened for a moment. He stopped the butler and walked over to Lina.

He sighed, indulgent and helpless. “Lina, I love you. If you don’t want a child, I won’t force you.”

He paused, and his arm around Iris tightened slightly.

“Perfect timing. Iris will have my child. She looks like you, so the baby will too, and it will be yours.”

“Iris asks nothing, not even a title, and the child will never call her mother. So swap places with her for now.”

Lina frowned slightly. “What do you mean?”

Dante smiled meaningfully. “It means Iris becomes the Donna, and you move out and become my mistress.”
