I’m Done Being My Genius Boyfriend’s Secret Chapter 04

I’m Done Being My Genius Boyfriend’s Secret Chapter 04

I dug my nails into my palm, but my voice stayed steady.

“You like him? Take him. He’s yours.”

Briar’s face went pale. She bit her lip.

Tristan ran back with a ticket and handed it to me.

“There was only one Unreserved Coach ticket left.

Briar’s back can’t handle standing. You take it.”

He glanced at me. “It’s good for you to move around anyway. Don’t be lazy.”

He checked the time, grabbed Briar’s hand, and started walking toward the gate.

“We’ll save you a seat!”

Briar shot me a triumphant look.

I looked down at the ticket.

He hadn’t even noticed the date—it was a month from now.

I crumpled it and dropped it in the trash.

Then I turned and boarded my own flight.

After the trip, I went home to pick up my acceptance letter.

Tristan was waiting outside the building.

He grabbed my wrist, his face tense.

“Where’s Briar’s acceptance letter?”

I winced. “What acceptance letter?”

He said coldly, “Don’t play dumb.”

“It was delivered to my place. The mailman said someone picked it up.”

“You’ve been home this whole time. Who else could it be?”

“If you’re upset, take it out on me—don’t drag Briar into this.”

Briar stepped out from behind him, her eyes red-rimmed and shiny.

“If you’re angry about me and Tristan, I can apologize. I can even cut him off.”

“Just please—give me back my acceptance letter. I worked so hard for Columbia.”

My eyes burned. “I didn’t take it. I just got back today.”

But he wasn’t listening.

His eyes locked on the package in my arms—and he grabbed it.

I lunged. “Tristan—give it back!”

He held it above my head, his voice cold.

“I’m counting to three.”

“You give me Briar’s letter—or I tear this one apart.”

“I didn’t take it! I just landed. You can check the cameras, ask my mom—”

“Three.”

“Tristan—please—”

He ripped it in half.

The pieces floated down at my feet.

I stared at them. I couldn’t even cry.

He opened his mouth—then a voice came from behind.

“Tristan… are you looking for this?”

His housekeeper was standing at the door, holding a sealed envelope.

“I picked it up earlier. Forgot to tell you.”

Briar’s crying stopped cold.

Tristan turned to me.

His lips moved—but nothing came out.

I didn’t wait.

I bent down and gathered the torn pieces in my hands.

One by one.

I stepped back and slammed the door.

The hallway was silent.

No apology came.

The next morning, a plane ticket to New York slid under the door.

Beside it, a note:

Together.

He was so sure I’d take it. That I’d fold, like always.

I threw it in the trash.

I left for Wyoming two days early.

Two days later, Tristan showed up at my door with Briar.

His voice was light, like nothing had happened.

“Mrs. Voss, I’m here to pick up Kira for New York.”
