Mafia Heir, You Have 60 Seconds to Text Me Back Chapter 03

Mafia Heir, You Have 60 Seconds to Text Me Back Chapter 03

Everything unfolded exactly as I anticipated.

Because of that stupid bet, Alec went from a half-hearted pursuer to someone constantly walking on eggshells around me.

He had stumbled onto an eerie pattern: every single time he bumped into Sienna, I completely stopped responding to his texts. It was as if I’d bugged his phone or placed him under twenty-four-hour surveillance.

Unable to contain his frustration, he cornered Sienna outside her sorority house on Greek Row. “Did you talk trash about me to Clara?”

The pleasant smile vanished from Sienna’s face. She scrutinized Alec’s expression, realizing it wasn’t his usual jealousy. Her face hardened, and she shot back. “You’re a trashy playboy, Alec. Terrified someone’s going to point it out?”

They got into a heated argument and stormed off in opposite directions.

The floating text flickered across my vision:

[Two whole months in, and the Mafia Prince hasn’t even managed to take the side character out on a single date! LMAO!]

I casually scrolled through Alec’s private social media.

Alec Rossi was a man who lived and died by his pride. If I kept turning him down into the third month, I’d run the risk of genuinely offending someone with a syndicate body count behind his name.

Besides, I’d always wanted an attentive boyfriend—someone who could tolerate my terrible temper, indulge my impossible standards, and drop endless cash on me. But because I couldn’t afford to let outsiders see what a demanding, high-maintenance diva I actually was, I had to keep up the sweet, unassuming facade.

Alec, ironically, fit my requirements to a tee.

He was far too proud to ever air his dirty laundry to outsiders. To save face, he’d even weave little lies to protect his ego.

Case in point: right at this moment, he was boasting to his fraternity brothers: “Clara is head over heels for me. She’s just shy, that’s why she hasn’t come out to meet you guys yet.”

One of his frat brothers clapped him on the shoulder. “Damn, Alec! So you barely lifted a finger and she fell for you? You really over Sienna?”

Alec scoffed, leaning back against the leather sofa. “Sienna who? I haven’t even looked at her lately. I don’t want Clara getting jealous.”

Another voice chimed in from across the room. “Really don’t care anymore? Guess that explains why you didn’t ask when Sienna dumped her senior boyfriend.”

Alec went completely still. “She dumped him?”

The floating comments offered a real-time play-by-play:

[ugh, total trash behavior from the male lead! Still hung up on the female lead while actively chasing Clara!]

[He even picked out a red dress to send her! Clara NEVER wears red!]

[And he bought the completely wrong size. Clara is catching strays for no reason 😭]

A second later, my phone chimed. A text from Alec:

[Alec]: Just bought you a dress. Thought it’d look good on you. [Alec]: If you don’t like it, just give it to your roommate.

I stared coldly at the lit-up screen.

Sienna was right about one thing: Men need to be trained.

That night, I opened a blank document, typed out one hundred strict boyfriend rules, and sent it straight to his private line.

[Clara]: I agree to be your girlfriend. Break a single rule, and we break up.

[Clara]: 1. No talking about other women around me. Your mother counts.

[Clara]: 97. If I hit you, you do not hit me back. Ever.

[Clara]: 98. No tongue unless I explicitly say yes.

[Clara]: 99. Ask what I like before you try anything intimate. No rough stuff.

[Clara]: 100. If we break up, our messages stay private. In public, you will say I was a perfectly reasonable girlfriend.

I immediately followed up with another text:

[Clara]: Oh, and by the way, Sienna just started dating a freshman. If you don’t like my terms, feel free to block me. My time is valuable.

[Clara]: Rest assured, once we’re official, I’ll make you look good in front of your friends.

Staring at his phone, Alec’s mind went completely blank.

What the hell was this—dating terms or a hostage negotiation?! How could he possibly agree to this bullshit?!

He paced back and forth in his penthouse, fumes practically coming out of his ears. Even Sienna had never dared treat him like this!

Rule 58: If a text goes unanswered for over sixty seconds, it’s an automatic breakup.

Was she out of her mind?!

Alec glared at the screen in utter disbelief, his face going rigid with outrage.

I slipped into the red dress, adjusted the lighting, took a strategically angled selfie, and sent it over.

[Clara]: Too tight across the chest, wrong size, and I hate the color. Memorize my measurements, and memorize all 100 rules above. I’ll be testing you tomorrow.

Sixty seconds ticked by. No reply.

I hit Block without hesitation.

Alec had just finished reading the contract.

As he scrolled to the bottom, he was caught completely off guard by a photo that stopped him cold.

In the picture, Clara had taken off her glasses—a rare sight. The deep red dress made her pale skin look even brighter, yet her expression remained as cool, distant, and composed as ever.

His heart skipped a beat.

After two months of getting nothing but cold shoulders from her, the photo hit harder than it should have.

He rubbed the bridge of his nose and typed out a quick response:

[Alec]: Fine.

He decided to agree first. Once they were actually dating, he couldtalk her into relaxing the rules later. There was no way Clara Crowe would actually have the nerve to treat him that ruthlessly.

He tapped Send.

Nothing happened.

He tried again, then tapped my profile. Gone.

I’d blocked him.

“She actually fucking blocked me?!”
