The Female Hybrid Everyone Hated Chapter 14

The Female Hybrid Everyone Hated Chapter 14

The next moment, my soul lifted out of my body. It felt really strange seeing myself standing away from my body as Zane cried and shouted holding my corpse tight.

“Zane…..Zane I’m here, can you see me?” I called out but I couldn’t see me or hear me.

Who didn’t want me to leave?

I watched from somewhere between worlds.

Zane sat on the cliff with my body in his arms for a long time. Long enough for the sun to move. Long enough for the gold to go white and the white to go pale.

Then he finally stood up when he noticed the windy blow behind him.

A shadow tall figure stepped out and revealed himself. I looked toward where he stood and immediately noticed him.

He was also a vampire, I could tell and he had deep respect for Zane from what I noticed.

“Zane, what happened?” He asked as Zane turned around and was walking towards him.

“She is dead Victor, I was too late, I failed her” Zane said coldly and his expression was back to the one he displaced before. The one without remorse.

“I’m sorry old friend. So what do we do now?”

He asked and Zane kept quiet for a few seconds and then he spoke with a voice that meant he had come to a

decision.

“Proceed as planned”

He carried me in his arms himself and vanished in speed in a blur.

His destination was Ashburn Territory.

He wouldn’t let anyone else touch me. He walked through the castle gates with me in his arms and said nothing to anyone who tried to stop him and kept walking until he reached the great hall where Tyson was meeting with his pack council and he laid me down on the table in the center of it.

The room went absolutely silent.

“She’s dead,” Zane said. His voice was the flattest thing I had ever heard. Like something had been removed from it. “And you are all responsible.”

Tyson’s face – I watched my brother’s face do something I had never seen it do. Not grief. Not guilt. Something that had no name, something that lived underneath both of those things, some fundamental rearranging of everything he understood about himself.

“What-” His voice broke. “What happened? She was in Asylum—”

“YES SHE WAS FUCKING IN ASYLUM, Zane said voice rose up. I have never seen him in this angry state,

“because you put her there. Because the snake – Rose told you to and you did it.”

He looked at my brother without any good expression on his face at all. “Look at her Tyson Look at what she weighs. Do you know why she weighs that? Because she stopped eating weeks ago. Because being in this world, being in your family, being failed by every single person she trusted.” He stepped back. “Look at her.”

Tyson looked at my corpse and fell to his knees.

My skin was gray. My collarbones and cheeks were sunken from not eating.

I looked at my own body from this view and damn I looked really bad.

My bones were revealing on my skin.

“FUCK!!!!! How did this happen, how did she die?! She was supposed to be in the Asylum, who stabbed her!”

“You knew she was in the Asylum, did you seem to care how she was doing, did you even care to listen to her and believe her words? Do you know what it was like in there? Being watched every second. Even in the bathroom. Even in the shower!” Zane’s eyes burned with hatred.

I hadn’t realized he knew all that. Had he been coming to see me this whole time?

Tyson suddenly punched Zane on his cheek in anger, unable to hear more of it.

The punch caught Zane across the cheek hard. It was the Alpha wolf strength behind it, the kind of blow that would have dropped a human and staggered most supernaturals.

“I was trying to protect her!” He spat out in defense.

“Why did you take her out?! If you hadn’t, she’d still be alive!”

I saw tears forming in Tyson’s eyes.

My brother, who had been so cruel to me just days ago, was crying over my death.

Zane’s head turned with the impact. But he didn’t leave the spot. He straightened slowly, wiping the blood from the corner of his mouth with the back of his hand.

“That wasn’t protection. That was torture,” Zane shot back wiping the blood in his mouth as his injuries healed up immediately.

Then his eyes and fangs came out, he fisted his hand and returned the punch much more harder this time that the werewolf fell back and crashed on the table breaking it into several pieces.

“You put her there, Zane said very quietly, “because it was convenient. Because Rose asked you to and you called it protection so you could sleep at night.”

“She would have killed herself- Tyson groaned and stood back up after spitting out blood.

“SHE DID KILL HERSELF.” The words cracked across the hall like a physical thing. “She killed herself because of what you all made of her life. Because twenty five years of being told she was worthless and manipulative and insane by the people who were supposed to love her finally became something she believed.” Zane’s voice dropped to almost nothing. “You didn’t put her in that Asylum to protect her. You put her there to protect yourself from having to look at what you’d done.”

“You are a fool for believing Rose over your sister, I’ll make you pay for that”

Tyson roared.

He shifted mid-charge – not fully, but enough that his Alpha power flooded out of him as he launched himself at Zane with everything he had.

Zane moved swiftly sideways, fluidly, the kind of movement that only came from decades of knowing exactly how much faster he was than everything else in any given room.

He let Tyson’s momentum carry the wolf past him and then he was behind him, one hand locked in the back of Tyson’s collar, and he drove him forward into the stone wall hard enough to crack it.

Tyson spun and slashed his claws severally till he caught Zane across the forearm and tore deep.

Zane looked at the wound and watched it close without uttering any sound of being in pain.

His face was devoid of emotions.

“Feel better?” he said flatly with an eyebrow raised up.

Tyson swung again in rage but Zane caught his wrist – stopped it completely, with no effort, just the absolute power of what he was – and held it.

“She saved you.” Zane said slowly in a way that showed he took it personally. Looking directly into Tyson’s eyes from inches away.

“More times than you know. More ways than you noticed. She hunted in storms for you. She took blame that wasn’t hers. She worked dangerous posts for harvest seasons to buy you a war horse.” He tightened his grip on Tyson’s wrist. “And when Rose came and pointed a finger at her, you didn’t ask a single question. You just believed it. Because believing Rose was easier than believing your sister.”

Tyson growled loudly again.

“SHUT IT!!”

I stood there watching with tears in my eyes, I knew I had to stop it, but I was just a soul, there was nothing else I could do.

Yet I still did. And something else happened that stopped them.
