Caught Him Cheating—A Week to Make Him Bitterly Regret It Chapter 08

The next day, Lucas’s wife filed for divorce.

Outside the courthouse, Lucas was shouting. “How can you be so cruel? Stella is a woman alone here with no

family. What’s wrong with me helping her?”

“I told you a hundred times, nothing is going on between us. Do you have to act like you’ve lost your mind

over this?”

“I let you stay home and be a kept woman. You didn’t have to do anything. And now you want half my

money? No way. If we divorce, you walk away with nothing.”

Honestly, he truly outdid himself in shamelessness.

No matter how much he screamed, cried, and carried on about how hard his life was, no matter how much

he denied cheating, the woman across from him just looked at him coldly.

Her expression was firm. There was no softness left. “See you in court.”

She was stronger than me. I once doubted whether Lucas was really cheating. I wanted to ask him and hear

his excuses.

She didn’t bother. She just went straight to action.

And it worked. With the evidence I sent her, Lucas lost.

They divorced. Lucas was at fault. He got to keep only a small portion of their assets.

Later, he and Stella moved in together.

They partied and traveled and spent money like there was no tomorrow. But it didn’t last. One morning,

Stella cleaned out his accounts and disappeared again.

This time, he called the police. But by the time they caught her, the money was all gone.

Stella went to prison. Lucas was broke again, without even a place to sleep.

He went to see his ex-wife, but he couldn’t get anywhere near her before he was thrown out.

This time, he was middle-aged. He didn’t have the energy to start over. He ended up homeless, digging through trash to survive.

Another ten years passed.

I was running my hand over a guy’s abs when the Interface, which had been quiet for ages, suddenly spoke

up again.

“Host, you won’t believe what happened to Lucas.”

I said calmly, “I stopped paying attention to him a long time ago. He’s not dead yet?”

The Interface said, “Not yet. He’s the male lead. He won’t die that soon.”

“Stella got out of prison, and they ran into each other again.”

My eyes went wide. “Wow. Those two are really meant to be, huh? They keep finding each other.”

The Interface said, “No, no, no. It’s more like a curse.’

“Lucas took Stella home, and they got married the next day. But the day after the wedding, something

snapped in him.”

“He started beating her. No reason, just rage. The worst time, he broke her leg. Now they’re both limping.”

I said, “Why doesn’t she leave?”

The Interface said, “She can’t. It’s karma. They’re stuck with each other.”

“She did try to run away. But Lucas always found her and dragged her back.”

I sighed. “That’s pretty terrible.”

The Interface said, “Not really. At some point, Stella started sleeping with this old guy down the street.”

“The old guy is built like a truck. Every time Lucas hit her, she’d go sleep with the old guy, and then the old

guy would go beat Lucas up.”

“So it was Lucas hits Stella, Stella sleeps with the old guy, then old guy beats Lucas. Round and round.”

I stared into space. “Lucas hits Stella. Stella sleeps with the old guy. The old guy beats Lucas. Lucas hits

Stella.”

“Is that… is that how this works?”

And that was how things stayed until the day I died of old age in that world. Lucas and Stella were still stuck

in their cycle, neither one dead yet.

When I returned to the real world, I had a letter with me.

[Best regards,

Thank you for helping me. If you hadn’t sent me that evidence, I might never have seen him clearly.

I’ve received a lot of cruelty in my life. Kindness has been rare. You helped me more than anyone.]

It was from Lucas’s ex-wife. I never knew her name, but that didn’t matter.

If only she had been the one I was sent to redeem.

Back in the real world, I loved life. I gave back to society with everything I had learned in that other world.

I still dated. But only dated.
