Caught Him Cheating—A Week to Make Him Bitterly Regret It Chapter 02

The next day, at a coffee shop in Lucas’s office building, I looked him straight in the eyes. “Did Stella Haven come back?”

My sudden question made him freeze mid-motion.

A flash of surprise crossed his face.

Before he could respond, I went on, “Lucas, are you cheating on me? With Stella?”

He frowned. “Faith, don’t jump to conclusions. Stella and I have been over for a long time. She just came back to town and doesn’t have any family here. I’m just helping her out a little.”

I watched his eyes dart back and forth and let out a quiet, bitter laugh.

Whenever he felt guilty, his eyes would flicker like that.

Some things never changed.

I took off my wedding ring and set it on the table, looking at him coldly. “Lucas, you’d sleep with anything that didn’t move.”

“Back then, you got hit by a car trying to save her during a fight. ”

“While you were in the hospital, she drained your company’s accounts with your CFO. She even took your insurance money.”

“She nearly pushed you to the edge. Your leg still hasn’t fully recovered because of her. And after all that, you still choose to cheat on me with her? You’re pathetic.”

Lucas dropped his gaze. “That’s all in the past. Why do you have to bring it up and hurt me again?”

How interesting.

He didn’t blame Stella for hurting him. He blamed me for reminding him.

He sighed. “She came back here with no family. I’m the only person she knows. Isn’t it only right that I help her?”

“Besides, she had her reasons for what happened back then. She was fooled by that CFO. She knows she made a mistake.”

I smiled. “An excuse full of holes. And you actually believe it.”

Whatever.

I stood up, dropped my ring into the trash can next to the table, and looked down at him.

“Don’t worry. I’m not going to turn into some bitter wife begging you to come back to me. I don’t want trash.”

“If you want to take care of her, go ahead. Whether that means taking care of her in bed or at the dinner table, it’s none of my business.”

I turned to leave.

But just as I stepped away, Lucas grabbed my hand. “You don’t have to worry. She’s not going to take your place as Mrs. Fairchild.”

He looked up at me, his expression complicated. “Faith, you have to understand. I’m a successful man now. And you can’t give me a child. Why shouldn’t I look for someone else?”

I wasn’t from this world, so I couldn’t have a child with a man from this world.

But before we got married, I told him clearly that I wouldn’t have children. Back then, he accepted it without hesitation.

He even said he had always planned to be child-free.

I pulled my hand free and looked at him coldly. “So you think your cheating is my fault?”

He lowered his head and was quiet for a moment. Then he said, “At least it has something to do with you.”

I closed my eyes and tried to stop my hands from shaking.

But that only made me angrier.

I opened my eyes.

I slapped him hard across the face.

Lucas’s head snapped to the side. He held his cheek and stared at me in disbelief. “Faith, have you lost your mind?”

“Sorry,” I said. “You had it coming.”

Then I turned and walked out.
